She doesn't have keys to her home to enter?  Or he changed the locks?  He doesn't have to be there for her to retrieve her personal belongings.

She don't have the keys with her since she left the keys when she traveled go back to her home country and she did not expect this will gonna happened.

Does she live in an apartment building?  The landlord/superintendent can perhaps open the door for her, if he's not home.  She doesn't need to tell him/her what happened, only that she doesn't have her keys with her.

That's a good idea, i will tell her that, hopefully the husband did not report her as no longer tenant.

If she does gain access to the apartment when he is not home, tell her to grab her keys too---she may need it later to re-enter if she forgets something.  Also remind her to grab every single piece of paperwork/ID pertaining to herself if she can while she has the chance (ie. her check book, birth certificate), not just her clothing and personal effects.

 

Even if he's not home, still a good idea to not go there alone incase he walks in while she's there.

She's doing okay and in the process of filing a divorce, thank you for asking

This experience made me really sad because things happen, divorces happen and people change their minds but this is about decency and a moral compass out of tune.

 

It made me sad to hear what she has to go through - please pass on to her that many of us were thinking of her situation. I hope she'll be able to adjust status without him, get a hold of her belongings and move on/heal.

Thanks, i'm with her in this process and advise her as well to join VJ if in case she needs additional information which i believe i provided her some based on the information I got from here.

 

I really hope as well that she will remove her condition, I know its a tough one because no more support from the husband but I believe she can because she have strong evidences.

I was wondering that too. But it sounds like she did.

 

If you read some of my previous postings, you can see that I had issues with my ex family as well. I ended up getting divorced because I felt emotionally abused. However, I'm sure that he would have said the same about me. In the end I came to the conclusion that we weren't good for each other. He brought out the worst in me and I brought out the worst in him. At least we were open to trying to figure our marriage out but it just didn't work. I locked all my important papers away and I had to hide my medication because he and his family withheld them from me and even destroyed some of them. Clothes and things can be replaced. But the papers and medication are so important. I really hope she got everything and I wish her all the best in her visa process going forward.

@Lemon23 I know, this is almost 4 years old, but I am wondering what ended up happening with your friend's I-751? Was the able to simply convert it to a waiver or did she have to re-file from scratch?

What was her experience with USCIS during that process (interview/RFE ect..)?

I hope she is well and safe.
