New USCIS Ombudsman - Is Anybody Else Concerned?

Is anybody else worried that the new USCIS Ombudsman - the person who is tasked with assisting immigrants having difficulties with USCIS (petitions that are taking too long or have been improperly rejected) - was previously the executive director for the Foundation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR), which is a non-profit whose aim seems to be to ban all immigration to the US except for spouses and minor children of US Citizens? 

 

I understand that this administration has already been seen to be very anti-immigrant, but to put someone who ran an anti-immigration non-profit in charge of helping immigrants negotiate their way through USCIS? Really?

Not concerned at all. It's probably for the best.

No concerns here, and I don't view the Federation for American Immigration Reform to be "anti-immigration". The citizens of a any country have every right to speak against illegal immigration, and to demand fixing their country's immigration system. And, if they want, they have every right to to express views and try to change the laws in a way that would limit the number of legal immigrants flowing into their country, and prevent the abuse of the immigration system. None of that is "anti-immigration".

Nope. Plus USCIS works fairly independently from the 'administration' as you had refered to. I assume USCIS made it's decision completely on it's own

 

The US has always been overly generous in the sense of allowing immigration(for instance, one person comes to the US and LPR, petitions spouse, then as USC petitions parents and siblings)

No issue.  Now if it was something like ALIPAC where many want a full moratorium on immigration for 10-20 years, that might be an issue.

I am. I also read today that they working on new bill that would prevent people from outside like Congress to have influence/demand answers on any case.

I guess people who has their cases closed don't bother to worry about such things.

That's not what you think it means. They're trying to keep representatives senators etc from being allowed to have bills keeping individuals in the country and not deported.
