So you are saying the press and their anonymous sources have nothing but good intentions?  Even with Watergate, there was an actual crime that took place and suspects known before Woodward and Bernstein talked to Deep Throat.  Here we have a bunch of anonymous sources (that could have very easily been made up) with their own agendas still butt hurt because Trump beat Hillary and wanting to keep a narrative alive as to why (it couldn't have been because she was a worse candidate than Donald Trump).  Keep digging, but so far the only crime that appears to have taken place is the unmasking of an American Citizen by the former administration, so hopefully Mueller will include that in his investigation.

Since he is not interested in governing, that might be the sensible and honorable thing to do, but then again, neither word seems to be part of his vocabulary.

It wouldn't stop the attack by the biased political media.  They would just alter the narrative and start attacking Pence as dirty/inept by association.  That would accompany all the attacks of he being too religious and regressive.

Didn't Comey already testify before Congress that in his experience as the head of the FBI, no one from the DOJ (which by extension includes the WH) has ever tried to get him to stop an investigation.
