Greetings,

Our interview is expected to take place a few weeks from now in Santo Domingo, however, it was scheduled to take place in London a month ago as I was residing in the UK.  In London, my wife' presence wasn't required, therefore, we didn't prepare ourselves financially nor logistically to have my wife attending the interview in London, but the sudden change to Santo Domingo has complicated things, here the petitioner presence is highly expected, but it looks like my wife won't be able to attend the interview, she feels that her leave of absence from work won't be granted, plus we have incurred on a tax penalty because she will have to file her taxes late this year , therefore, after a  sudden trip to DR my wife could lose her job and risk her ability to pay the IRS on time , therefore, I wonder if any of you have heard or have gone through the interview with only the applicant present and have been approved?, because, I feel this will be our only option as a right  now. A bit about us, we have been married for almost five years now,  we have lived together in NYC for a couple of months and I have attended college in both the U.K and the U.S.A, but now back home in the DR.

Hi,  her presence is not 100% necessary but they say is better for both parties to be there.  I petitioned my father years ago and I didn't travel to DR but he is my father and not a husband wife situation where they think about the marriage being a fake.  I would recommend that she shows her employer the interview letter and I don't think that they would say no.  If I was her I would try my best to make it to the interview, it really does make an impression for her to be there because it shows her interest.  I am waiting for my husbands interview in Santo Domingo as well and I will make sure that I travel to be there with him

hope you guys can find a solution, best of luck

if you have solid prove the marriage is real  you should have any problems getting the visa approve. i have seen a lot of people going without their spouse to the interview and they visa was approve just fine.

I would suggest you to call NVC before making final decision... As per my knowledge, I haven't seen many people attending interview together... It is more about proving your relationship is genuine and making sure you have required documents...
