It's Ok, This is complicated :)

So you can call the U.S embassy to this phone number:  (+53) 7839-4152

BUT it's the same if you do it online, and you don't have to spend money to be placed on hold or something, at the embassy. The date availability will be the same.

Finish the Ds-160 and submit it. Then with your confirmation page, you can go here:  https://cgifederal.secure.force.com/?language=English&country=Cuba and get an interview as well as pay the 265.00$.

One you open the link, do the steps for new user.

Then get the New Application/Schedule appointment (in the picture bellow) this is part of the page, but after you start your profile it will look just like mine. the go ahead and pay the Ds-160  + schedule an appointment.

Does this help you?

Ok, one more question @058rocale, =)

Should I put my email address and pwd or create one for my fiance to use when I create the new account?  He has a gmail account.

I'm just reading this in its entirety, sorry, YES, this has been very helpful.  =)  There is so much info.  lol.

Thank you again!

Hi @058rocale,

So th cgifederal.secure page looks like it is asking for the beneficiary info, because all the country fields have defaulted to Cuba.  Don't you think?

Hi there!

I erased the automatically filled in slots and replaced it with my information. I based that on this step by step guide from this website: http://dennyeyberg.wixsite.com/filipino-am-visa/scheduling-the-interview

It states that this is just so we can track our documents and such. So it can be our information since we can check with the internet more frequently.

Hi there everyone!  =)

I'm ready to submit my DS-160.

Does the beneficiary have to check the boxes and do the electronic signature?

I put that I helped prepare it for him.

But I think he actually needs to check the boxes and submit it correct?

Thanks!

Hi! Its great that you are done with the ds-160!

I read everywhere that the beneficiary has to review everything and 'submit it'. Even if we help them. But I was reading in the website for the embassy in Cuba in the instructions for the ds-160, and it implied that we can submit it for them, due to their limited access to internet, and that he was responsible for the information submitted.

But I don't know. Maybe if it's not to complicated for your fiance to review it and sign it, it maybe safer, just in case. I'm going to try and find that Cuban ds-160 link for you and you can tell me what you think.

Hello everyone!!

We got approved yesterday!! This morning I had him go to the internet and submit the Ds-160. He called me through imo and then I guided him through the last steps of the Ds-160. It's interesting that the confirmation number is the same as the Ds-160 application id -.- interesting in an "are-you-kidding- me?!" kind of way haha

So I quickly went to the interview and payment page (https://cgifederal.secure.force.com/?language=English&country=Cuba). I had already filled everything out, so I just paid with my debit card (the don't accept credit cards) and got my interview for May 24th!! .

I printed all the confirmation pages (made 2 extra copies and saved them on my dropbox, for emergency access, if needed later on in Cuba)

This next week my fiancee will request the background check and start getting his medical records in order so later on, when I get the new case number from NVC, he can call and make an appointment for the official medical exam.

We are so excited!!

Hi, I took a look at the website above.

The problem is that he seems unable to even access the website: https://ceac.state.gov/genniv/default.aspx.

It just gives him the spinning wheel.  He tried for an hour and a half this morning.  He has to do it at work though so he wonders if it may be that that site is not permitted at work.

Did your fiance do it at a internet salon? or at his house?

Sorry to ask such personal question, but just wondering if it makes a difference?

Thanks!

Oh I am so sorry to hear that!

hmm, maybe it is his job's internet access... It would make sense.

My fiance went to a park with wifi and after buying the internet card, he accessed the internet through his iphone.

I hope your fiance can go to a park today or tomorrow. Does he has anything like that close to his house?

Hey everyone!

Phew! That was a struggle.  I was able to get my appointment for May 25th Thursday!

1. I was actually able to do it before we submitted the DS160 because I used the application ID that @058rocale said was the same as the confirmation number (which it is).

Somehow I was able to get the appointment.  I took a screen shot of the receipt and saved it, I think I also "Printed it to PDF", but I was never able to go back to that page to reprint it.  Do you have to do it when you get to that page, so you only get one chance?  All I got was a long number.  Is that what we bring to the interview as the 'receipt'?

Also I printed the Appointment Confirmation.  That was a lot easier because I was able to save that as a PDF and print it.  It has a barcode on it and the UID.

2. My fiance was finally able to get into the website and retrieve the application and sign and submit.  I basically sent him step by step instructions with screenshots and all for how to do it.  He swears he doesn't have to be the one that does it.  That he interpreted the website @058rocale sent me as meaning that us USCs can totally do it for them, "It says so on the website", he would say.  But he was happy to do it and I told him it would be better if he tried and see how it went.  He had to go to a private internet salon and a really nice lady helped him out and they were able to retrieve and complete the application with my instructions.  Is there something from this process that we need to bring to the interview?  I asked him take screenshots of the confirmation page and he printed copies out of the final confirmation page, but there wasn't a way to save it easily like it was at the end of making the appointment.

Do we need the confirmation page from submitting the DS160 application for the interview?  Or do we need the confirmation of the appointment for the interview?

And what page constitutes the receipt?  (all I have is a screenshot with a long number that also says "Your payment has been accepted and your receipt is now valid to schedule an appointment".

Thanks again for all your support and info!

Forena99

I'm finally feeling a little more excited now that this part is over...like I said, Phew!

@058rocale

Wanted to congratulate you on your interview date!

I was so busy trying to get ours that I didn't get a chance to properly congratulate you on getting it all done (Plus visajourney was down this morning for a bit wasn't it?).  Thanks for all your help.  I'm glad your fiance was able to sign and submit from his end too.  It just feels better to have it happen that way, though I can see how it can be really hard to do in Cuba.  Luckily, we were able to do it too.

BTW, I did you use his info on the Passport info for the Appointment website.  I only used my name as the person who helped and I used my email address so that I would get the confirmation, but because it asks for the name on the DS160 app, I used his info.  Hopefully it doesn't matter either way.

Also, my DHL package arrived in Havana today!  Don't think it's at the Consulate yet though...

Also, we should be in Havana around the same time for the interview!  Maybe we should try to meet up if you are interested.

Thanks again for all your help.  =)
