Maybe that tribe doesn't want it, but lots of other communities in the area have pipelines already in them.  We have a pipeline that runs through our town and across our water and that same body of water they are protesting for has other oil pipelines that cross it.

None of us were given the option to say no, but most don't care.

They were counting on nobody caring, and people rose up and made it clear they don't want the pipeline in their land. It has to start somewhere.

1st amendment buddy, protesting is fundamental. i get that you hate hippies, but i have to ask... you don't think standing rock should protest? what else can they do, chances are their water will be affected in the near future.

I didn't say they couldn't protest, just clean up after yourselves.  I don't hate hippies (and I suspect not all these protesters were/are hippies), I just have a problem with people that do this and don't do it responsibly. Does the first amendment  suspend personal responsibility or allow property destruction?

You're thinking of the second amendment, apparently.

is this how one saves the environment?

Federal officials hauled away more than 800 dumpsters full of garbage at the Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL) protest campsites situated on federally-owned land in North Dakota.

The Army Corps of Engineers completed its $1.1 million cleanup of the now vacant Sacred Stone campsite Thursday after sanitation crews hauled away 835 dumpsters full of trash left behind by people who opposed the pipeline, the Washington Times reported.

Army Corps Capt. Ryan Hignight said a total of 8,170 cubic yards was removed from the Sacred Stone, Oceti Sakowin, and Rosebud campsites.

“In total, there were 835 roll-off dumpsters of trash and debris removed from the three camps together,” Hignight said in an email to reporters Monday.

if lined up one cubic yard after another, the line would be 4.64 miles long......
