My name is Abraão , I live to YMCA , in Portland ME . I moved for other room because of the ceiling fell down , end then that happened

December 19, 2017, the Post Office returned your new card for Receipt Number SRC***************** to us as undeliverable. We mailed your card to the address you provide to us, but the Post Office could not deliver it. Please go to www.uscis.gov/e-request to request that we resend the card to you. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschangeto give us your new mailing address

I updated my adress for the new room and requested to the card be resent to me . The USCIS told me to allow 60 days for delivery . I’m frustrated .

Sorry to hear that, unfortunately it can take up that much time (Although I don't think due to the ceiling issue it should be "Undeliverable"). Just be sure that they do indeed have the correct address for you now (Level 2 officer on the phone can confirm this for you). 60 Days is the amount of time it generally can take. But I can also recommend in securing an infopass appointment to be sure that they have the correct address on file. (Otherwise, more delays can happen)

Hi Abraao, care to share what documents do you needed to get the congressman/women involved? Also, I'd also like to get a timeline of how long did it take USCIS to update your case status to undeliverable of your card?

I'm in the same situation as you were before, my card was mailed to my inlaws on Jan 3, after I got the tracking number, it showed it's stuck in one of USPS facilities on Jan 9 because it was missent, I've been calling USPS everyday since then trying to track that package, took them 3 weeks to let me know they returned my package to USCIS on Jan 9. However, I didn't get any updates on either USPS or USCIS websites regarding the returned card. I filed an e-request to USCIS regardless since it has been over a month. I'm considering to also get congressman involved hearing stories some people were asked to pay $540 to get a new card..etc

Thank you.

That happened to us and still havent received any card.. errors and erros. We have been waiting since November 2nd. First error they didnt have the apartment number second error they had a wrong request to send back te card. We ve been waiting and waiting and still no card. when u call them they make a case number and they have 30 days to solve the case. so we have to wait and if we dont receive we have to call back. its frustrating

Hi Dazzlez, I appreciate you sharing your story and success!  I just wanted to confirm whether or not you think scheduling an infopass appointment might be my best bet as well, as I've had the same thing occur.  My card was returned undeliverable in October of 2017 and I've been waiting ever since for the card to be resent.  Tier 2 with USCIS customer service continues to tell me that my green card is sitting in Missouri and should be sent any day now, but that's taken at least 4 months and no progress.  Do you think scheduling an infopass appointment will help me to understand what's going on?

Hi Dnowak, sorry I am a bit late in answering you as I haven't been logging into this site as often. But wow that's awful and I feel your pain!

I really do feel that an infopass appointment will be helpful (if you haven't scheduled one already). I don't like how during those 4 months you have been informed of different things. An officer there (infopass) will definitely help you out and give you real time details on what's going on, where it's sitting and if it really is going to be delivered correctly this time!(be sure to ask them what address they have on file too) Let me know how it goes for you and best of luck. Haha we certainly need some of that here! For all we know you may get issued with tracking details and will be with you very soon.

For the folks who wanted to know how to get in touch with the congressman/woman, all you need to do is check your local congressman/woman for your local area(a Google search can help you) you will be directed to their website which has an immigration section, fill up a form and someone will then reach out regarding your case and arrange a meeting on how they can help you further. And yes, they are also very helpful. (But I'd use that when I've pretty much exhausted all other resources).

It has been 45 days wait period for me and they still have not send the card!!  I called dozens of time and always the same answer wait 90 days! I scheduled an infopass and address was correct, everything looks good.  The officer said she will send an email to resend the card, but refused to stamp my passport because I have an approved case.  This was last month!  I am loosing it now.  My license expires this month.  I have business trips and without proper documents, I cannot board!! Tried to contact congress woman, but the online application does not work, and they do not answer the phone!

Any ideas on what to do?  I am lost now...

Just reading this thread makes me feel a bit better about my and my wife's current situation. In our case, I paid the fee, changed my address on their website, then expected the card to be sent to the new address...wrong! The process is apparently NOT automated, and an agent actually has to somehow approve or digitally translate the address change from one system to another, so they sent out the PR card to the old address before the new address took effect. That was at the end of January (it is now July)...and it's been hell ever since. We call, speak to an agent, verify that we've put in a request to resend the card, are told to wait 30 or 60 or 90 days, depending on the caprices of the agent with whom we speak, then hand up. Wait the requested period of time, call again, and the cycle repeats.

I am at the point of contacting an immigration attorney, but I'm not really sure that there's anything that they could really do. This really is a horribly frustrating limbo in which to find oneself. My wife does have her visa with the i551 stamp on/next to it, but, in typically Californian style, the DMV will ONLY issue DLs to LPR card-holder - they DON'T accept the visa/stamp.  :(

SO: Does contacting a lawyer/congressperson work?

EDIT: I didn't make clear that the card WAS sent out, then returned as undeliverable by USPS.

Sorry to hear that! It sucks big time to have an address change during these times - one of the main factors of Green Cards being undeliverable. Have you tried an infopass appointment to check and ensure that they have indeed amended your address to your current one? (I have observed a lot of folks suffer due to this as the address does not get updated as promptly as we'd imagine). The whole calling and 90 days wait can be so time consuming! But this has to be done at least once until you've exhausted all options in order to reach out to a congressperson.

Contacting a congressperson should work! You can check their website out for your local area, fill out their form and hopefully someone from there will reach out to you. In my experience, they really sympathize with a situation and can perform the necessary communication with USCIS on your behalf to get to the bottom of what's going on. Let us know if your wife has received her GC about now and how was she able to obtain it.

I basically waited for it.  It took about 70 days to receive it after it was returned.  I was stalking the delivery truck and I also signed up for informed delivery to know what's coming.  I chased the truck the whole morning and I was able to stop it around noon in my neighborhood.  If I did not do what I did, I would have lost it for the second time.  CHASE THE DELIVERY TRUCK AND SIGNED UP FOR INFORMED DELIVERY!!

We had a similar situation...signing up for informed delivery is super important, but in our case, it may not have made that much of a difference, as our GC was resent with a signature required, and they left a sticky note on our door. We booked it to the local post office and LUCKILY they had it sitting in the back of their office. This situation is super frustrating. I feel ya. And it feels so great when you finally get that card! We had to wait over 6 months to finally get my wife's card.

Haha OMG that's awesome, we've pretty much have done the same, labeling the letter box, constant look out for the delivery person etc after I was provided with the tracking number.

Another important piece of action to take: Sign up for Informed Delivery!
