How long does it generally take to receive your passport after the K1 interview?

Hi all!

 

My fiance has his K1 interview in London this Friday (AHHH, it's finally here!!!) and we're so excited!  We're trying to plan the next month or so out, with booking plane tickets and finding a new place to live when he gets here.  We obviously want to book plane tickets ASAP after he physically receives his passport with the visa in it.  How long does it generally take after the interview? I know his interview being on a Friday will probably throw it off a few days with the weekend.  He lives in the north (about 2 hours from London by train) and mentioned that he paid for the fastest possible shipping, if it makes any difference.

10/7/2017:  EAD/AP combo card received 

12/14/2017: Interview!

12/30/2017: GC received

 

Removal of Conditions:

9/23/2019: NOA date

10/24/2019: Biometrics completed (East Hartford, CT ASC) 

8/18/2020: Case approved

9/8/2020: GC in hand!

11/12/2020: Biometrics reuse notice on USCIS account

3/19/2021: Email notification that USCIS has taken action on our case

3/31/2021: Interview notice

5/5/2021: Interview in Lawrence, MA (our field office is Hartford, CT)

5/5/2021: Approval and same day oath ceremony due to COVID-19!

It depends on the caseload, if there's any additional AP or any other issues.  A few weeks to a couple of months at most hopefully.  DO NOT purchase any non refundable or changeable tickets until he has visa in hand.  Better yet, don't purchase any at all until then.

Like everyone said, it all depends.  but, for reference only and don't book the flight until he has his passport back, my husband had his CR1 visa interview on Tuesday the 3rd and his passport was ready for pickup on Monday the 9th.  The woman conducting the interview even let us know it'd be about a week.   Don't let the 17 day average what time on the screen in the waiting area scare you :)

Thanks so much for your help, everyone!  His interview was today and he got approved!  They said he'd receive his passport in about a week.  Eek, so exciting! :)
