I don't think USCIS  cares about profanities or swear words, they have plenty of issues to deal. Get real people!

The OP is asking about something they are worried may possibly look bad and affect their case. Police have to deal with people swearing all the time, doesn't mean they have to tolerate it. In the UK if you swear in front of a police officer and they ask you not to and you then do it again, they CAN arrest you.

Yes believe it or not you can be arrested here for using bad language. I think when it comes to seeing someone who decides your future, people feel it is very official and bad language should not be used. After all you wouldn't go in there and swear whilst having your interview, they are judging you!

Also to erase bad language would simply be common courtesy as not everyone appreciates it or takes to it kindly.

You don't need to send a lot of chats for your embassy and what you described would not be any issue unless you regularly cuss each other out and fight.
I advice against any tempering of communication and that includes blacking out words/sentences in chats.

It is especially a big no no for high fraud embassies, yours is not and many get away with it but I would send them in unaltered.

Spoiler

Just general f-bombs and the like, it's just kinda part of our vocabulary, like, he got a promotion at work and I was like "**** man, that's great", or like "Oh ****! Happy birthday dude!".

I'm pretty sure it can't be interpreted as anything other than endearment, I just don't want to get anyone's backs up with it, and I wondered if there was official advice. I mean, we're all grownups haha, it just feels out of place on such a formal form.

I strongly not to show "Oh ****! Happy birthday dude!" to avoid them assuming you forgot your his birthday or so got them wondering how serious relationship you and him are in when you forgot his birthday.

for a US/UK couple, no real red flags.. i wouldnt even bother bringing the chat logs.  it isn't necessary for your embassay.  I think the fact you have dated 5 years and have seen each other enough, you have enough proof without the chat logs.

Is this 'evidence' for your interview? Or were you intending on including it with your K1 packet? If for the embassy, put your mind at ease as London does not want it, nor will they care to look at it.

Thanks for this one too, I used it as an expression of exuberance, rather than forgetfulness, but I hadn't considered it could be taken either way.

Both, I'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it, but thanks, that makes me feel a bit better, I thought they were gonna be going through my K1 packet quizzing me on it. ;p

Well the thing is, consider all the evidence that you have put or are going to put in your K1 application (I don't know what stage you're on right now). We considered adding things like emails/chat logs etc and discovered quality over quantity was better. When you think of what the application instructions asks for, it's merely asking for proof you two have met. So passport stamps, flight tickets, receipts of going to the same places were helpful. For proof of relationship, we felt our photos (even though that is secondary evidence - but the content of the photos more than backed up the primary evidence of us meeting each other over the years), engagement ring receipt, and other engagement related evidence was enough. Even this, for a consulate like London is still overkill (its not for other embassies). If you still want to send chat stuff that's fine, but I don't know if it would be looked at. As for the embassy itself, I can tell you it's a pretty simple experience. They will ask you questions about your fiancé, how you met, about yourself. It's kind of like a nice business chat. No scary quizzes or crazy stuff unless there are huge red flags for your case.
