Thank you for your help! I really appreciate it,

one other question if you would be able to help. My fiance in Brazil is the one that proposed to me. But we are petitioning to bring him here. Does that look sketchy? Should I say that I proposed or should I be mutual and just say things such as "We became engaged"?

It is what it is - do not even entertain the thought of lying on any forms, USCIS, the CO, CBP, etc. It will catch up to you and has a very significant penalty.

That said, I don't think the beneficiary proposing is a problem.

Also for your scanned passport from the petitioner, did it include all of the blank pages. my US passport is 28 pages, but I only have information on the first 8 pages. So i am not to sure what to do there.

YESSS!!!!! SCAN EVERY PAGE!!!  Even though you know that you only have info on the first 8 pages - THEY don't know that you do, right? If you don't scan every page (even the blank ones) they don't know that you didnt go to 84 countries on the other pages!

Also should my fiance scan his entire passport as well? He only scanned his passport picture page as well as his visa and his passport stamps for the trips to visit me. We included these on the proof of seeing each other page, but we are unsure if we should provide all of his pages as well or not.

jgschuck,

It is not required that the beneficiary scan every page of his passport for the application.  That said, I don't think it hurts to be complete.  Either submit all pages or don't submit any, but that is my opinion.  I can't say what they prefer, only what is required.  Anything above and beyond is just that.  But I prefer to be complete about it.

Good Luck!!

Right. I only sent one page + the ID page myself. The purpose isn't to verify identity (wherein you need to scan every page)...i.e. instead of a birth certificate... but just to show that the stamps of where I traveled matches what I said.

Hello,

My fiance and I are currently putting together our packet for the K1 I-129F petition. I am a USA citizen filing to bring him here from Brazil.

I just was wondering how in depth should the packet be? Should I only include what the government website asks? Or should I do more?

I have been looking at youtube examples and everyone that shows there "approved" package has a huge binder filled with tons of stuff with slip covers for each page.

IE: pages and pages of texts, pages of photos with detailed lengthy descriptions of every picture (they only ask for up to 5), itinerary for every single trip, and cover letters for every single section.

An example of a youtube example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X2DqliPxd7E

These videos scare me because I was just planning on using a hard, cardboard backing with a 2 hole punch at the top and putting all my pages on that with an ACCO fastener holding it all together.

what I will use: (http://tinypic.com/r/5laqyv/9)

But it seems everyone I've seen is using binders with the plastic slip covers. We are also doing exactly what the governments website says, no more no less.

I'm very nervous we will mess this up. Can someone help calm me down and let me know if it is better to do more, or if I am fine. and what type of way should I put together these documents? Are we doing it correctly? I am really nervous it will be done wrong.

thank you all to help in advance!

No one wants a 3 ring binder.  In fact they don't even want a two hole punch on top.  Just paper clip everything together with a cover sheet.  If someone sees your packet come in with so much stuff and in a binder they may place it aside to go through other stuff instead..  They would have to remove all of the ####### you put your papers together with to hole punch and put it in their standard folders.

One other quick question when including letters sent back and fourth, can i tamper with them? On one I feel it is a great letter! But there was a joke made that I feel is not appropriate for this serious time. Is it okay to cross it out? Or would you say leave it, or just not use it at all.

What I did was take screenshots of letters, IMs, etc, and put them into a file (with a TOC and page number) - a selection of communications and posts, etc., for each month of our relationship. I found it easier that way to select info I wanted to share and/or redact some personal info (I used Paint and inserted the pictures into the Word doc).  I totally agree with folks that you have a right to be selective on what you share and redact info, but not to alter/change any of the text you choose to show.

Thank you so much for this information!

Do you know of any sites that you could reccomend for the statistics on what yuo explained?

Also for your scanned passport from the petitioner, did it include all of the blank pages. my US passport is 28 pages, but I only have information on the first 8 pages. So i am not to sure what to do there.

So long as you can send copies of your boarding passes for your air flights and an itinerary (helpful if flight and/or hotel stay purchased thru Expedia or other travel site) copy, then I see no point in sending a copy of your passport at all. It is not requested in the I-129F and if you prove you traveled abroad, it is granted you HAVE a passport and received the necessary visa stamp in your destination airport.

Though it isn't requested, my understanding is that proofs that can be validated, such as boarding passes and stamps in passports hold a heavier weight than documents such as itineraries (though I think those are still good to show).  I scanned my fiance's passport pages and inserted them into a Word doc, then scaled the images down to 4 pages - you could probably get it to 2.  Just that little extra bit of info shows proof that can be validated vs. things like emails and IMs or even itineraries which could be forged and are not something that can be easily validated.  When I say 'validated' what I mean is that for the interview, any official documents you provided copies of in the I-129F must be submitted (or may be requested during review) - a boarding pass and a passport can then be validated against the copies that were provided, whereas emails, itineraries and the like are only ever 'copies'.

Nope, not required as of the updated instructions on 12/23/16:  https://www.uscis.gov/i-129f

However, front-loading applications is done by some people. I gave proof of employment and salary as part of front-loaded evidence for the embassy review, including other proofs that supported our case, as this packet the USCIS is the first look the embassy will have into a relationship, other than the info you provide on the day of your interview.
