Here is that link I mentioned, it is only true for renewal EADs not first time ones so always point that out. Let us hope we don't ever have to use it, though.

No it is supposedly not that hard, just one page and some photos. I think maybe someone on this thread is self renewing but I can't remember. If you search "i765 how to file" on the VJ search bar it should have a tutorial on this site.

My InfoPass was kind of an InfoNahh, as I didn't learn anything new except that the USCIS seems to have messed up my file somewhere along the line, as their system does not reflect all the steps that have actually happened with my application (for example their system does not say that they ever sent RFE and thus, it also can't reflect that I ever responded to one). They apologized and were thoroughly empathetic and nice to me. She put in a SR to the office that actually sent the RFE to find out what's happening with that, meanwhile my application seems to physically be in Arizona this time. That's Missouri, Florida, Louisiana, Missouri again and now Arizona. You might notice that none of these states is California...

 

All in all, two officers looked at my case and said that since I have done everything right, there should be nothing to worry about. A SR to Lousiana was put in after they failed to respond to the first one. 

Also confirmed that for some time in 2016 officers were moved to work on the influx of citizenship applications, which put them well behind and is delaying processing.

 

Also re: working on expired EAD link, I need that too!

We handled the EAD/AP renewal ourselves (haven't used a lawyer at all through the process from K-1 to AOS; I feel like this is some great on-the-job immigration training I'm getting, haha). Essentially, you can just use many of the same documents you did for the initial EAD application. Form I-765 has a line to check if you are renewing versus applying for the first time. You should also submit form G-1145 if you want to receive e-notification when the application is picked up by USCIS from the lockbox, 2 passport-style photos, a copy of the I-765 approval notice, a copy of the I-485 receipt (form I-797), and a copy of your current EAD card (front and back). We also included a cover letter that listed all of the documents included with the application.

Sorry you're having to go through this run-around...and hope that the SR will actually result in something useful and get your case moving forward.

I am really glad to hear that it was confirmed that things seem to be held up due to naturalizing a ton of people for the upcoming election and such versus having horrible luck. Seems to fall in line with other things I heard. Let's hope the floodgates open for us and we get interview notices soon.

OMG.... Came home from work today after getting all my paperwork in order to renew my ead/ap and waiting in the mail for me was the letter... My interview is February 23rd, woo hoo!!! I'm stunned, ha! 

 

 

Oh, and my online status hasn't changed, still says "ready to schedule interview".

Yup that's exactly what i did. I prepared and printed everything and i will send out the package by the end of the month because that is when the 120 days starts at.

Congrats PG! Hope your interview goes smoothly.

 

I protect my sanity by not even checking the mail more than twice a week anymore.

I see online that they responded to my Infopass SR on the 17th (yesterday) so I'll probably get the standard "expecting delay" letter by Friday. Congresswoman's office called today, they can confirm that USCIS has received my new medical and my case is under review (big relief). They told to give them 90 days and if still no decision, to contact the office for further assistance.

Good to have info! Although you've had a rough go of it being bounced around to so many different service centers, it must be a relief to know where you are in the process, if only still "under review." 

 

I'm hoping we'll get a similar update from our congresswoman's office soon. So far, after three conversations with Tier 2s, three service requests, and the congresswoman on the case, all we know is that my husband's file has been sitting in the NBC for 10 months and 8 days (who's counting?). If one more person tells me that USCIS processing cases in the order of receipt, I am going to loooooooose iiiiitttttttt.
