I didn't provide anything regarding the military and they never asked for anything either. It's only if you have been in the military or been drafted that you need to show info about that.

k-1 here, Just got the checklist from Stockholm, :)  Quick question about  one item:

"

(  )           MILITARY RECORDS:  A certified copy of any military record is required, either stating that the military service has been completed, or that the applicant is exempt from serving.

"

not sure what to provide here.  fiancee has never served in military, and i dont think swe has mandatory service requirements.

I think the checklist is kind of generic, but exempt from serving would be if you were called up for the draft and chose not to enlist or they deemed you unfit for service, etc.  This was the case for my husband, he was called before the draft board, found fit to serve, but had no interest in it and they had enough volunteers that year...

3/2/18  E-filed N-400 under 5 year rule

3/26/18 Biometrics

7/2019-12/2019 (Yes, 16- 21 months) Estimated time to interview MSP office.

Help! My fiance had his flight scheduled this afternoon to come to USA. Upon arriving at the airport, they said he could not fly because even though he had the visa package, the embassy forgot to put something in his passport. A stamp or seal, I'm not sure. He's currently trying to call the embassy. What do we do??

Yes, he needs the K1 visa stamp inside his passport. He won't be able to come into the US otherwise. Is he at Arlanda? I'd try to personally get to the embassy and explain the situation and hand them the passport so they can put the stamp in there. Never heard of them forgetting to put it in there, sounds very unusual. And it's also sad because he wasted money on a plane trip he can't make. Hopefully they can speed up the process of putting the visa in, otherwise it normally takes up to 14 days to receive it give or take a few days depending on workload.

They can't just stamp the passport and let him go?

Is it a big piece of paper? Or the size of the passport? He has a sheet of paper with that information, but it was not in the passport and it's a regular size.

Update on passport - So my fiance had renewed his passport after the visa package came in the mail. However, he had looked through his passport before renewing and there was not a page with the visa information. It was just his usual passport with no new additions. So the embassy has directed him to contact the police, have them either return the old passport or give him a letter stating it was destroyed. Their main concern is there's a passport with a visa in it out there. Once he receives the letter from the police, he has to send it to the embassy. They said it may take 2 weeks or so.  Hopefully they can speed up the process considering everything else was already finalized previously. Fingers crossed for sooner.

Well, that explains some of it I suppose... Maybe that page stuck together when he was looking through it? In any case, the passport number of the passport being used has to match also the number with which he applied for the visa. In the case that a new passport is issued this always needs to have the visa included in it. This was a very unfortunate way to learn that lesson... Yes, hopefully they can be quick about it. The 2 weeks is the regular visa issuance time (also the same after approved interview) and it does sometimes go faster. I guess you will just have to wait a little bit longer to be together, but in the long-run this will be a short time - just a shame about the ticket!!

When you renew your passport in Sweden you always get the old passport back, they just make holes in it so you can't use it. It's the same thing when you renew it here in the US even. So he must have his old passport somewhere?
