America's top intelligence official just laid waste to the Democrats' latest attempt to undermine President-elect Donald Trump.

Director of National Intelligence James Clapper testified Thursday on Capitol Hill that there is no evidence that Russian hacking handed the election to Trump. In doing so, he shattered a major talking point used by Democrats, and made a point I hope Republican Senators John McCain and Lindsey Graham did not miss.

"They did not change any vote tallies or anything of that sort," Clapper told lawmakers. "And we had no way of gauging the impact that -- certainly, the intelligence community can't gauge the impact that it had on the choices that the electors made.".......snip

I think you have missed the point. You can change elections without ballots or tallest.

  The point is we are getting attacked by a foreign entity. There will never be a way to assess the influence they had on the election nor does there need to be. We do need to determine their capability and if possible, how long they have been doing this. We do need to take steps to prevent it from happening again. We need to respond appropriately and for those things to happen everyone needs to be on the same page.

 

   Trump has to be on board with this, because if not, he runs the risk of looking like he's complicit. Everyone knows he has ties to Putin. Russia also had their own reasons to want Trump to win. If Trump was an innocent beneficiary of Russian hacking then so be it, that's not Trump's fault. The longer he opposes this, the more likely he gets dragged into a no win situation. He's going to be butting heads with the CIA over this, with congress, and eventually with the people. It's not going to go away, and Trump's not going to be the golden child forever.

I think Trump's inexperience is showing through here. I actually can understand his skepticism about the whole "Russians hacked the election omg!!!!1" hysteria the media is perpetuating BUT......that said, clearly our cyber security systems are weak and venerable if anyone got through or hacked us, Russians or no Russians. He needs to take it more seriously. The fact that he's just brushing it off as unimportant or criticizing our intelligence agencies is the wrong approach. Offer criticism, but constructive criticism. I guess this kind of blundering inexperience is what we have to look forward to for the next four years....sigh.

   I think his inexperience and also his ego. The same behavior that led him to claim he really won the popular vote is apparent here. He doesn't want any blemish, real or perceived  against the legitimacy of his win so he doesn't want to acknowledge the possibility of any of any hacking that might have benefited him.

Good point. I think it's also an insecurity issue as well. I feel that he actually did win a lot of the Rust Belt states fair and square (with the Electoral College rules anyway), and yet he is still so bothered by these claims. It's like the media is baiting his ego and he's falling for it instead of remaining aloof and self-assured. Sad! (As he would say in one of his Twitterisms)

So the Media and the left is upset and are  claiming someone rigged an election, because someone exposed Hillary and the DNC for actually rigging an election.

   The fact is, wikileaks released damaging emails, against Podesta for example, but withheld any follow up emails that would have refuted that damage. They didn't just release the whole shebang, they selectively released the most detrimental ones in a way that would cause the most negative outcome. They also didn't release anything from the RNC. That is what they call influencing an outcome. 

 

   As I've said before, I doubt it's the first time it's happened, and for sure if we don't do anything about it, it won't be the last time.

  They released an email that Podesta was invited to an occult performance by his brother. They declined to release the follow up that he did not attend. There was a whole segment of fake loony news based around that that turned the whole Clinton camp into satanic worshipers, and some of you ate that up. In an election that was decided by a few thousand voters in a few states.

 

  Apologizing for Trump is becoming pathological here. If there's nothing to hide, there's nothing to apologize for. The other side of that is, then quit acting like there's something to hide. The same person that says Hillary should be locked up says we should look the other way for this? Sorry dude, if you ever were middle of the road you lost it. You are as partisan as anyone on here.
