Permanent residents inviting parents to come visit

Hello,

My husband is a permanent resident and we are about to have a baby in 3 months.  We would like to invite his parents to come visit from Morocco.  How do we do this?

You send them an email, or pick up the phone. 

 

As for their visas, they apply directly to the US post with jurisdiction over their place of residence; you have no involvement in the process, and they would need to demonstrate to the officer's satisfaction that they would return home at the end of their visit.

There is nothing YOU can do to ensure they are granted the visa. There is no such thing as a letter of invitation which would ensure the visa is issued, and providing said evidence can actually work against them.

 

Your in laws need to apply for the B2 and be issued the visa on their own merits.

Your husband's resident status has nothing to do with parents' B2 visa. They apply on their own merit, and attend an interview at the US embassy\consulate where they must convince the CO of their ties to Morocco that would return to. Any document(s) from you would likely never be looked at.

Ok thank you everyone!!.  I was thinking of asking asking a lawyer for help to help speed things up. 

 

Also, my husbands 2 year conditional green card expired last May and has applied for the 10 year one.  We did the biometrics and things like that and we received an extension letter good for 1 year while we wait for an answer for a response for the 10 year green card.  We have been waiting almost a year now and haven't had any response yet and his 1 year extension letter is about to expire.  I'm trying to figure out how much longer it will take and if can he just go ahead and start the process of applying for citizenship even though we haven't received the 10 year green card yet.  I understand that a green card holder can apply for citizenship as long as he's married to a US citizen and has had his green card for 3 years.  Help!  Thank you so much in advance!!!

We are in the same time line as you guys for permanent green card. We had an info pass meeting and was given the option to extend another year for our GC but it required surrendering the GC. Since we have 3 more months we decided to wait. The application for citizenship would be returned if the 10 try GC had not been approved yet. That's what we learned at our info pass meeting.

Oh wow, so you guys decided to wait the 3 months in hopes of getting the 10 year GC soon? I think we have to do the same thing. I don't know what else to do.  What is an info pass meeting?

This isn't true. 

 

Lots of people here have filed an N-400 with their I-751 still pending.

Really!!!!   Omg, I would love to get the process started now.  So they won't deny us if we send in application for citizenship within 90 days before the 3 year anniversary?

  I didn't say it was true or false. My statement was based on fact from a USCIS agent.  Whether she was telling us something that was not factual I can't vouch for her statement. I can only repeat what a representative of our Government explained to me.

The earliest you can file under the three year rule is +3 years - 90 days from the "Resident Since" date on the green card. 

 

This assumes you're still in a bona fide martial relationship and are living with your US citizen spouse who has been a US citizen all of those three years. 

 

It makes no difference if the i-751 is still pending. You may, down the line, have a combined I-751/N-400 interview. They adjudicate the I-751 and then move to the N-400 immediately afterwards.
