    Obama's sanctions over Russia's involvement in Ukraine have been absolutely brutal for Russia. There are many US sanctions against Russia ATM, such as for supplying weapons to countries on the US state sponsored terrorism list, human rights violations and interfering with other governments. Most of the sanctions were done through congress. The Ukraine sanctions are by far the toughest, and they are the only ones's done through executive action.

 

  If you consider Obama to have been weak on Russia, good for you. It fits the overall picture of the fanboy narrative that some of you are caught up in. The Russians don't feel that way about him.

 

  The reason Putin would rather see Trump in office, even with all Trumps idiosyncrasies, is that they cannot get out of their economic black hole without getting those sanctions removed and Trumps suggestion that he would look at that is the bone that Putin needed.

   I doubt this is Putin's first dance either. I wonder if the people who think we should move on realize how much Putin didn't want McCain in office in 2008 or Romney in 2012. Failing to ascertain the scope of this now just sets us up for worse in the future.

 

  The extent that Putin has or will interfere with US policy will always be determined by Putin's interest. Putin is not interesting in making America 'great'. Putin is interested in making Russia 'great', and mostly in making Putin 'great'. Often times that runs contrary to America's interest.

Putin is not a new player to world politics. We can see how he has acted in the past. It is pretty clear his number one focus is on himself, and his number two is on Russia. I am very confident when I say that his happiness over a Trump Presidency is not because Trump will make America great, but because it will make Putin greater, and Russia stronger. American benefiting would be, most likely, an unfortunate side effect in Putin's eyes.

Malware cannot take down a power grid. In fact a laptop used by a utility worker isn't even connected to the grid in a way that would allow that. The systems that control the power grid aren't even connected to the internet. Most conspiracy theories are harmless but this one could trigger WW3.

My husband had to mansplain to me that he's not quite sure you actually know what malware is and if you suspect you have malware stop posting and get that thing checked out by a professional.

Obama has been weak on Russia for the entirety of his administration. I was disappointed most after he just turned his cheek when Crimea was invaded by Russia. But it seems Trump, and his alt-right army want to take that even further and take direction from Putin and Russia. That would seem to be the antithesis of democracy.
