if you click on the op - the title and pic of a shushing kerry are followed by a couple sentences that invite you to 'read the whole thing' over at daily caller. the daily caller article is basically filled with links to other daily caller stories, a pdf from a document cloud (read as: no source).

search this same story on snopes and you'll find plenty of information and research and sources. snopes doesn't say true or untrue, claims unproven. snopes isn't going to post 'key details' if they can't verify them. meanwhile daily caller asserts that their own articles prove their own articles.

personally, i prefer snopes as the majority of pertinent research is all in one entry with sources listed. makes it much easier to determine what is real and fake. what looks fake to me is story that teases with a couple empty sentences, a large pic meant to tell you how to feel about the subject and circular links.

I used to like and rely on snopes, but not anymore. I still use them for non-important stuff, but when it comes to big stories, if I want to know the truth, I may reference snopes, but bounce it off several other sites to verify. Not saying they are completely biased, but they do seem to hang a little to the left of center sometimes.

If we worked more on critical thinking skills and less on memorization in schools this might work. It's an amazing time we live in, all the information in the world at our fingertips, and yet so many people don't have a clue what to do with it.

Sharpening critical thinking skills seems a bit counter to the progressive agenda. If people start thinking for themselves, will they need the progressive Democrat elites to lead them? Heck, they might just vote for someone other than a Democrat with those new found skills.

However, I do agree, people need to get educated from a critical thinking perspective, and refrain from all the "Group Think" the Left expects us to execute.
