Note: The WSJ is reporting multiple deaths, but other news organizations are reporting one death. The story is still unfolding.

Multiple deaths and injuries were reported after a truck drove onto the sidewalk at a Christmas market in Berlins Charlottenburg district on Monday night, local police said.

Berlin police said the incident occurred at Breitscheidplatz, the site of a holiday market in front of the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church, a popular site for tourists.

Earlier this month Germany narrowly avoided a suspected Islamist attack on a Christmas market in the city of Ludwigshafen. Authorities reported that a 12-year-old German-Iraqi boy twice planted an explosive device at a Christmas market there that failed to detonate.
