One case from five and a half years ago. And the murderer was the sole executor of the deceased's will. Hardly any similarity to the stoning of women who are raped or who "bring shame" upon her family in some obscure way that is common among muslims. Shirley you realize this is a apples and cube steak comparison?

The person in question claimed he killed his victim because the Bible told him so. Likewise, people in theocracies do the things they do because they also believe their religious books and faith leaders tell them that is what they must do. But the modern world doesn't even have to rely upon theology for an excuse for their brutality. Women are raped and murdered every day in the US. By the time it's taken me to type this message out, several will have already taken place. Should we then argue that there is something wrong with our supposed Judeo-Christian cultural identity in America based on the statistics of abuse, violence, and rape towards gays, children, and women? Perhaps we should get our own house in order.

Honor killings is not exclusive to Muslim theocracies or that particular religious custom as we tend to portray it. In areas where Christianity is rare, such as Pakistan you can find this Christian honor killing. I would suppose he would say the Bible gave him an affirmative for doing this as well as the culture. While one Christian activist in the article describes it in terms of a cultural thing of that particular region which then perverts the religion, Christians and Jews in Jordan, for instance have reported to commit honor killings. And while a little more complex to find info on, you can indeed find instances of it happening in a variety of religions and cultures around the world.

i think you are the one who believes islam is detrimental to women in the united states, you tell me when a woman was last stoned to death in the united states. since we have all this sharia law, thanks obama.

and then tell me when the united states successfully wiped out a religion in any foreign country.

and then, if you've got a point, you can lay that on me too.

and it's a swing and a miss............

I am sure we all know nice muslims in our daily lives. And jews. And christians. And catholics. And whatever other religions our friends are.

But tell me this... What is the primary religion of Iran, Pakistan, Egypt, Libya, Yemen, Afghanistan, et al.?

And then you read articles like this: http://www.cnsnews.com/news/article/susan-jones/11774-number-terror-attacks-worldwide-dropped-13-2015 And I for one have no problem understanding why people "pick on" islam as not really being the religion of peace. If I were as against the teachings of the Quran and the practices of these folks in the ME, I am pretty sure I would denounce islam as my religion. But that's just me.

amazing that no one here is scrambling to find out if a particular religion is responsible for the women who die in this country, every day, from domestic violence. could it be isis..???http://now.org/resource/violence-against-women-in-the-united-states-statistic/

Did you actually read this from your article :

"Mainstream Muslims condemn honor violence without equivocation, said Ibrahim Hooper, spokesman for the [Hamas-linked — ed.] Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR).

“If anyone mistreats women, they should not seek refuge in Islam,” he said.

Republican Muslim Coalition Executive Director Saba Ahmed also said such “barbaric acts” are in total conflict with the teachings of Islam…".

That just proves my point. Yet, some here can't or willfully refuse to acknowledge it to advance their agenda.

Not sure how you got that one by the language filter. Turns out a singular woman is verboten, but used plurally it's ok. Plus one for being clever!
