Hello friends,

My mother has a tourist visa, and its still valid in her former passport, but now she has a new passport with new number. My question :should she carry both passports to travel or has to apply to move it to the new passport!? I am planning to bring her soon to the usa.

Thanks for the response. But i am still confused because the new passport has a new number which isnt in the valid visa. As you know, every year there are new rules and instructions for travelers. So, i would like to know if anyone has same case and has travelled recently?!

That is why you walk with both. This is not an uncommon situation.

Visas aren't transferred to new passports. If she wanted to have a visa in her new passport she would have to apply all over again and that is not necessary. She must travel with both. Nothing else need to be done.

Cateogory: CR1

  • NOA1/Notice of receipt: Sept. 15, 2015
  • NOA2/I130 Approved: February 8, 2016 (NO RFE) :)
  • Process slowed down by us
  • Sent documents to NVC: April 11, 2016
  • Scan date: April 14/ May 7th (NVC said both I dont know why)
  • Case Complete: May 31, 2016 (No checklist) :dancing:

August 17, 2016: Visa Approved!!!! :dancing:
