My fiancee recently got K-1 visa. She got instructions to pay $165 immigrant processing fee for green card. In order to pay this fee we need A-number and DOS number as per https://www.uscis.gov/file-online/uscis-immigrant-fee#How%20to%20Pay%20the%20Fee

All the documents she has does not include A-number and DOS number so how do i pay this fee? Do i even have to pay it before she comes to USA i think i can pay it after we get married, please enlighten me more about if i am missing something, thanks

The fee for the GC $165 is NOT for K-1 visa but for spouse visa (CR-1/IR-1) .... They get GC when they have paid the fee. K-1 have to go through AOS which is $1,070.

(Been 3-4 post about the A# the last couple of days. But it's on NOA2 or in the visa in the passport)

I kinda had an idea, but according to documents she received telling us to pay the fee, this whole thing is confusing. I called USCIS they told me to contact local consulate, they send me an e-mail to contact USCIS. When i filed case it is considered non-immigrant visa on some websites it is under immigrant...... <_< but i appreciate you answer Georgia16

She won't get a GC just for coming here. You have to get married within 90 days and after marriage file AOS (including EAD and AP) before she can get approved to a GC.

K-1 is a non-immigrant visa with immigrant intent.

So moral of the story is, do not bother paying $165 right now. Georiga16 i told exactly what you wrote here to USCIS rep yesterday over phone, but he was confusing $165 fee with visa fee. Anyways, i will just let her come here, get married and then start GC process.
