There is an anti-US rally happening outside the US embassy in Manila today. Allegedly it turned violent. We were walking within 0.5km of there while this happened and we didn't know.

Please update after your interview. My fiancé's interview is Tuesday the 25th. I'm concerned that she will either be denied entry by the protesters or will be unable to gain access to the embassy due to extenuating circumstances. If you would, once the interview is complete, share about the logistics of gaining entry into the compound.

It appears that the PNP have a pretty good hand on the situation (all things considered) but that could turn in a second.

Thank you,

Greg

IR1 is better than CR1, provided we get it :)

As for the protest, I hope she managed to get in to the USEM.

Both, stay out of politics. It's good for you so she won't give you headache and good for her so she'd get out :)

I'll let you know how it goes. Sounds like PNP cleared it out after running over some people and throwing tear gas. Lucky no one died.

Surprised they didn't run over more people .. that truck just plowed into the crowd ... I am betting next time the PNP say to disperse they will think more serious about it.

As for those worrying about your interviews. IF you have everything listed in the embassy instructions letter, and know your fiancee/husband all will be good.

Visa chase and citizenship.. DONE!

I agree with PhilippinesSagot. The events that occurred today have nothing to do with any of the posters' cases. This is not the first rodeo for the interviewers. Your case will be evaluated on it's merits and not on what the protestors did. Relax, ,be calm and strong tomorrow and we hear that you are coming to the US! For what it is worth, I agree with Meerak.....politics is a waste of energy! Just be extra alert tomorrow and you will be fine. GOOD LUCK!

No protesters today. Everything happened as I have read here on VJ. Quite a bit of waiting but everything went smoothly. We were approved!

As for entry logistics, we lined up in a holding area outside the Embassy in a line that says "Immigrant 8:15 appointment". We moved on at about 8:00am to another holding area still outside the embassy and they checked Rio's DS-160 confirmation and passport. Then it went step by step inside. Very organized and always an employee nearby to help. It's funny how the line inside works. The line is about 15 rows of seats and each time the line moves you have to change seats. I must've sat in 100 chairs today.

If you have all your documents there's nothing at all to worry about.

I have a hypothetical... my income is borderline at the 125% if they count all assets. Do you think the more anti-American stance of the new Philippines administration will be worth a little extra mercy for my spouse if it's a close call? We have no co-sponsor. Our application otherwise is ideal.

Just throwing out wishful thinking because I'm sure it's strictly on the facts of each case, but thought I'd toss that out there anyway.

More anti-American protests look to be coming. We want to get out of here.

Congrats!!

Ya for us, at first everyone gathers at the walking bridge across Roxas,.. then the guards get you lined up by visa type, then appt times, then the direct you to the booths under the canopy. I was totally impressed with the process when we were there, only we didn't change seats, except to move to a different section once biometrics and pre-screening was done. Great experience!!

Congratulations on your approved visa, that is exciting!!....that really must have been worrisome with that ugly protest and the way they handled it! Glad to know though that it is business as usual in the US embassy...lets hope it stays this way though.

If you can show that you are at or above with your salary then there is nothing to worry about. Most are never asked for financials and you may not either. But some have, so prepare your financial documents just the same.

Borderline WITH assets? USEM does NOT consider assets, not with the K-1 or immigrant visas. They want to see income or you need to get a co-sponsor.

I don't know what visa type you are chasing as your timeline is blank :time: Hard to answer questions without this info.

With K-1 the embassy many times are not asking for support evidence. With immigrant visas different story. Which are you?

Visa chase and citizenship.. DONE!
