K1 or C1

My boyfriend lives in Alexandria Egypt. He seems to think that the K1visa option has been temporarily stopped and that marriage in his country and then filing for a C1 (marriage visa) would be better. Does anyone know if this is true?

As long as your BF didn't falsify a marriage certificate or "get arrested" ... he can apply with you for K1. Ironic to get the same question about an Egyptian man resisting the K1 from 2 different authors in the same day... hmmmm

There is another VISA that is going out of fashion, per se. I think it is the K3, but I am not positive. Anyway, both the K1 and the CR1 are commonly used. The main difference is what country you want to have the wedding in.

The "waiting time" or processing time for the K1 should be the same.

There may be a bit of a delay in the sense of the background checks done on your fiance though being from a MENA country.

And the general extra scrutiny at the embassy is always normal for Egypt and such other countries (during the interview process, not the I129F process)
