Sorry for venting, but I've been seeing so many threads about sending photos from engagement parties, gatherings, etc...

Why does everyone have this compulsion to put those up with the application? From the CO's perspective it could look like a formal marriage event, especially if you're wearing any traditional garments.

They don't need evidence of your engagement as much as they need evidence of the couple having met in the last 2 years. Some casual pics with the family are fine so send those over.

Don't risk all the hardwork you put into the application by sending a picture of what could be construed as a marriage celebration

Hi, I can't speak for others but only for myself and my situation. From the start of this process I didn't really know where to look resources or guidance. I was new to this and in my early research I found a youtube video of a guy explaining how he put together the I129F packet. His video was informational and detailed and his fiance's visa got approved so I thought, he must have some credibility. He included engagement photos, engagement ring receipts etc. So being the newbie I was, I thought this would be beneficial to include.

After discovering Visa Journey and getting a grip on the process, only then did I discover that engagement parties could be perceived differently. Some countries are different from others and sometimes you just don't know what they want to see. I didn't realize it would be somewhat risky for India until after I sent in the 129F. But now I am here and what's done is done. I can only hope everything goes well from here on out.

Anyways, good luck to you and your fiance. At least you'll keep it checked in when doing the other steps like AOS, ROC, etc...

It's an Indian thing, sadly. Many folks believe in sending every morsel of evidence to maximize their chances of approval, or minimize chances of a rejection.

Peek at some of the docs folks carry for a tourist visa interview in India; it's everything but the kitchen sink.
