Old Passports

After re-reading Packet 4 word by word yesterday, I saw that my fiance needs to bring any old passports to the interview. He has an old passport but it is in a different country right now. Our interview is on Tuesday, and even if his mom can send it here, it may not make it in time.

My question is, has anyone been denied for not having the older passport?

He has no previous US visits. It is only more of the same as what is in his current passport: travels between Nicaragua and Costa Rica.

I don't even have my old passport anymore.

BUT all your questions you might want to get them moved to the country specific forum since Nigeria is a very hard embassy they might have stuff they want that others don't have to think about.

Okay, we'll see if she can send it to get here in time. If not, then we'll just go. . .as is. Is Nicaragua an especially hard embassy? I looked at the Embassy reviews, but is there a master list of the embassies that scrutinize more than others?

If possible, it might be a good idea to see if his mom can copy the passport (all pages of it) and email you the scanned images. Better than nothing...

And then at interview, he could state that the actual passport is in the mail on its way to him, if they need/want it.

they are not worried about visits to these countries / they are concerned with travel to the middle east and that is why they ask for the old visa

he may get ask to retrive it and bring it to embassy or they may deny him as he did not bring in needed documents

unforunately you are in high fraud country and they tend to deny K1's

Maybe she can FedEx it to him? ... It's better to have it with him since he still does have it. Better be safe.

Yes, it is one of the hard embassies. there is a list somewhere about the high fraud embassies.

Even Fedex wouldn't get it here fast enough. We are thinking of trying to send it through the bus with someone who brings papers back and forth between the papers.

This is an excellent idea in case it doesn't arrive in time. Yes Nicaragua is a country that had a lot of fraud with visas, especially the religious visa back in the day. So in today's time it is very hard for Nicas to get any kind of visa to get to the US

I will say, however, that my husband didn't ever bring his old passport to the interview. They didn't inquire about it. As long as your fiancés passport is valid and not 6 months to expiration you should be swell. If you want that extra security go ahead with the old passport and stuff.

You also have the advantage of being there with him at the interview. THAT is the best "evidence" he can submit (at least that's how I view it) so you can answer any questions that may arise.

Parking at the embassy is really crappy so if you are driving yourselves, leave with plenty of time to find parking. We had to park like 3 blocks away AND make sure to eat something as the wait time is ridiculous. We arrived at 7:30 for an 8:00 appointment and didn't leave until 1:30-ish

Also forgot to mention that if you have his mom scan the passport to make sure she scans every single page including the covers

Okay, I will do that. Yes, I don't want to pay to have the old passport sent if we don't even do it. I'll just have her send the copies of all the pages, and then if they end up wanting to see the old passport, we can always submit it afterward. But I'd hate to be rushing and everything if it's not even necessary.

Get Photocopy of all the pages..heck, I would include the front and back pages too.

I did not have them as well in my interview. No one asked about them or mentioned them. I think there is no need to worry about them. Maybe bring the ones available if any with the current one of course. Good luck!

Worst case scenario, he will be given a 221-G slip requesting the old passports. He gets them sent to him, presents them and done.
