Being stuck inside the home, with no driver's license and unable to work, sounds like a recipe for a happy start in the US.

..was going to say exactly the same thing!!

Honestly, I don't think the OP has to worry about postponing the AOS. As soon as he informs his fiancee about his plans, the AOS will postpone itself. The impending marriage and relationship will also disappear, but hey, that pesky AOS will no longer exist. Three birds with 1 stone, bro!

If he tells her. And somehow, I have the very strong feeling that is unlikely.

He doesn't need to tell her for her to find out...

Wife: Hun, have you filed that AOS? Our marriage was 3 weeks ago.

Husband: Uhh, not yet.

Wife: When are you gonna get on it?

Husband: Maybe in 6 months.

Wife joins VJ and posts: Can you believe this guy wanting to wait 6 months for no reason?

Why would you even get married if you are this concerned about fraud?? She is going to feel very unwelcome when she finds out.

It is very unkind from your part to expect someone to leave everything behind for you and still test them to make sure you are not being used. If you do not trust her, do not get married.

In trying to protect yourself from being abused you are becoming the abuser.

Also, think that she will be here in a completely new place, with no friends, no family, just you and your daughter. Delaying the AOS will mean that she will not be allowed to travel to her home country to visit family or for any emergencies until you decide that you trust her and file the AOS. How awful would it be for her or anyone to not be able to go to your home country to visit family when there is an emergency? So, she will feel trapped in a country she doesn't know with little options because you are not capable of trusting your wife.

Don't do that to her or anyone.

I predict that his Fiancee hasn't got a clue that he wants to postpone the AOS 6-7 months and he has no intention of telling her. It will be one excuse after another to delay it after they get married. That alone may become a self fulfilling prophecy due to her frustration with the situation and the relationship. This plan really has little chance of success and you can tell from the number of negative opinion posts that most people think his intentions, motives and moral character reek. IDK, maybe it's time that the USCIS mandates an AOS filing period like they do the K-1 Visa. Arrive U.S. 90 days to get married, 150 days to file AOS paperwork or maybe 60 days from date of marriage.

His "plan" might succeed. I am however certain that the marriage will not.

I read most of this thread and it seems it belongs in the section about major life changes. As most of the responses state, this seems like a poor plan when working through the K1 process. The one thing I am curious about from the OP is what are his criteria for deciding it is now the right time to file the AOS? I am not sure if he really knows as there are plenty of stories where the distrust/scam did not appear until well after 6-7 months. I know with me and my fiancé, we were ready to file the AOS almost immediately after marriage. Of course, we got to know each other a lot over a two year period and found out that we were best friends before we decided on the K1.
