Kaine: Clinton’s ‘deplorables’ characterization doesn’t merit an apology

RICHMOND — Hillary Clinton’s assertion that half of Donald Trump’s supporters fit into a “basket of deplorables” is not something for which she needs to apologize, her Democratic running mate, Sen. Tim Kaine (Va.), said Saturday in an interview.

I love it when people try to make it sound like Donald Trump's having filed for bankruptcy is such a bad thing. When so many MILLIONS of Ameircans have done the same thing. Heck, I'd be willing to bet at least one or two here on CEHST have done it. What's wrong with filing for bankruptcy? Is it a sin?

"Statistics compiled by the Bankruptcy Institute show that in the first quarter of the year 2012, 355,000 people have filed bankruptcy, which is down about 12 percent from the same period of time in 2011. For the year 2011, 1.37 million people filed bankurptcy, which was less than the 1.55 million people who filed bankruptcy in 2010."

This list is but the BRIEFEST glimpse of some famous people who have done the same thing:

Abraham Lincoln - 16th president of the Unites States- twice filed bankruptcy

Ulysses S. Grant - 18th president of the United States

Thomas Jefferson - founding father, author of the Declaration of Independence, 3rd president of the United States

William McKinley - 25th president of the United States

Dave Ramsey - self-professed get out of debt guru

Walt Disney - as in Mickey Mouse and Disneyland

Rembrandt Haremenszoon Van Rijn - Dutch painter

P.T. Barnum - filed for bankruptcy in 1871

Mark Twain - American author

Oscar Wilde - playwright

Henry John Heinz - condiment manufacturer famous for Heinz ketchup (my personal favorite)

Milton Hershey - founder of Hershey's chocolate

Henry Ford - automobile manufacturer

J.C. Penney - founder of the department store chain

Mickey Rooney - actor

Debbie Reynolds - movie actress and hotel/casino owner

Johnny Unitas - NFL Hall of Fame quarterback

Dorothy Hamill - figure skater, Olympian

Bjorn Borg - tennis star

Jerry Lee Lewis - rock and roll star

Burt Reynolds - shortly after his divorce from Loni Anderson

Sherman Hemsley - aka George Jefferson of The Jeffersons sitcom

Gary Busey - actor

Nicholas Cage - actor

Octomom Nadya Suleman - famous procreator

Kim Basinger - actress, former wife of Alec Baldwin

MC Hammer - entertainer, musician, dancer (Hammer Time)

Willie Nelson - country music legend

Larry King - talk show host

Donald Trump - filed two separate Chapter 11 for his hotels/casinos

Mike Tyson - boxer, filed Chapter 11

Joe Lewis - boxer

Warren Sap - NFL football player

Terrell Owens - NFL football player

Leon Spinks - boxer

Stephen Baldwin - actor

Jose Conseco - MLB baseball player

Janice Dickinson, self proclaimed "first supermodel"

Vince Neil - lead singer of Motley Crue

Donna D'Errico, former Baywatch babe and ex-wife of Nikki Sixx of "Motley Crue"

George McGovern - former presidential candidate

John Conally - Texas governor who was injured while riding with President John F. Kennedy at the time of his assignation

two points:

Trump proudly proclaims he is the king of debt and wants to take US finances to the brink in the same way he runs his businesses.

Trumps boast that he is a successful operator and financial whiz. He wants to bring his methods, including Trump U type tactics to run our country.

No thanks, were full up wuth crazy in this country already.

Considering how Trump U has ripped off thousands of dollars from the victims, I'm not to sure about that.

You do realize Trump would be in the same boat right?

Actually, she said 50% are. And judging from the comments I've seen here over the weekend, and the past history of Trumpsters here, she's 100% correct.

50% of Trump's supporters would be about 25% of the US population if the polling numbers are correct. That seems like a LOT OF deplorable people to me.

Yep, I've said it here before, there are quite a few people who support DT without saying it out loud.

If Trumpsters aren't agreeing with her assessment, then they should work to get rid of the stigma. Because when POC, Muslims, or any other group has a bad element, we're told we HAVE to condemn it, less we agree with it. But that rule doesn't apply for those who support Trump. Not only is it not condemned, but at best ignored or written off as a "select few", at worst, condoned when DT makes comments about roughing up folks.

What's funny is, no one here is offended by the racist, xenophobic, homophobic, Islamphobia that's inherent with his campaign. Free speech and all that. But calling someone out on said behavior is the problem.

I have to concede this point...1/4 of voters do not fall into this category. Additionally the adjectives of deplorable and unredeemable are bad choices when referring to people, additionally attacking the voter is never a good move. This was a mistake she has apologized for.

speaking of which : Trump is the one exploiting these feelings and he is one one not walking back is unfortunate statements. He needs to start by fessing up to the mistakes of his attacks on the Presidents resume and birth certificate.

That being said, a lot of folks in the country are having a hard time letting go.

Breitbart has 11 million viewers, Alex Jones..Infowars.com reaches 5 million a month. Not 1/4 of the nation, but not nothing.
