I'm EU citizen living in Thailand with my 15y old kid. My kid is a full time student in private school in Thailand, but during my K1 interview, he will be living in Europe for a few months, due to school exchange program, living with our family member. Is that possible for him to apply for K2 visa in country where he will be living which is also country of his second citizenship? Or he really has to travel in Thailand and miss the school?

do we have to apply together in same embassy or i can get K1 first then he will apply in Zurich separately after my approval? Do I have to be present or family member can apply for him? if so, do i need to do affidavit authorising a family member to make necessary steps?

Him interviewing in a separate country from you is not a problem; a guardian will need to go with him.

There may be an issue as, being only in Europe short term, he is not officially resident and you are supposed to be resident where you interview. However, a student visa/ being a student and residing with a family member may well be enough, especially as he is not the principal applicant for the visa.

he is swiss/french citizen but lived/studied in asia his whole life, he has student visa for thailand until 2017 and he won't have any visa for europe as he's a citizen

myself i have only a tourist visa for thailand as majority who lives here does, so technically i'm not a resident where i live, i just have property and my kid is officially enrolled in private school where i live.

i used to have guardian visas in past, but abandoned due to scrutiny and not meeting financial requirement (they want money, not my property which has more value)
