Question: interview in Surrey, interview in Montréal

Hi all!

So I've been using this site for a while as a guide to put together our I-129F. My fiancée is located in British Columbia and I had a question regarding time needed for the medical and the interview.

I've read a lot of stories about how the interview is scheduled 3-5 days after your medical. I wanted to ask if anyone has had any experience going to the medical in Surrey and then having the interview in Montréal. Did you have enough time to schedule them apart in order to fly to Montréal? I'm worried that not having enough time will cause my fiancée to buy a plane ticket with only like 3 days notice causing it to be extremely expensive.

Alternatively, would it be easier to fly to Montréal and get the medical and interview done in one shot?

If the fiancée is in BC and it's easier to do the medical there, then she should do the medical there. You can schedule your medical once you have the interview date, and usually that date is a couple of weeks or a month away. Dr. Cheema's office (Surrey) will work with you to get a date that has enough time to receive results before flying to Montreal for the interview. Even if she is not in the Lower Mainland, it's probably easier to spend a day in Vancouver/Surrey and get the results couriered to her home before going to Montreal.

If a person does their medical in Montreal they generally end up staying there for a week to be sure results are available before the interview date, so that can be inconvenient and costly, unless you want to make a vacation out of it.
