Interview with no approval paper and no case status update after

hi VJers,

I just had my interview yesterday and was asked basic questions.

then officer told me that it is approved and I will get my card within 3 to 4 weeks.

but after I got out. I realized that 1. HE DIDNT TAKE MY WORK PERMIT.

2. HE DIDNT GIVE ME ANY APPROVAL NOTICE.

3. UNTIL TODAY, I HAVEN'T GOT ANY ONLINE STATUS UPDATE.

Is this common guys? anyone with interview experience, is this the standard process?

All are normal.

The IO may or may not take your EAD (mine didn't).

They may or may not tell you verbally you were approved and give you an approval notice, or not (mine told me I was approved, but I received no notice on the day).

It took about a month after my interview for my status to actually change and for the production on my green card to be ordered.

Yes I had two interviews. My case was not overly normal. USCIS made some administrative errors and I had to get the CIS Ombudsman involved to get it straightened out. They kinda tried their best to pretend the first interview didn't happen, and then they resolved their issues at the second.

Normal. They did not take my husband's EAD. They did not give an actual approval notice, like someone would receive in the mail that is approved without interview. They did tell us about the need to remove conditions and sign a paper about it. His card production happened fairly quickly after that. He received his 8 days after the interview. Perhaps the production and mailing is longer now, or perhaps the supervisor had to review the approval before card production can take place. Hmm, or maybe that is the standard amount of time and yours could come sooner. And, the online status updates are not always reliable.

I didn't even sign anything about the remove conditions thing..... and what's weird is that, he didn't even ask my spouse to be in the interview room with me. lol

but anyways, waiting for the card is the only thing I can do now

My husband had a similar experience. Basic questions none of which were about our actual marriage. Then sent on our way home without anyone telling us anything. It took about a month before we received notice that his AOS was approved. Very happy about it all, but it was quite frustrating not knowing anything. I don't think you have anything to worry about.

I had my interview in Memphis on Sept 2nd, same thing. She said we were approved, told us about removing conditions in 2 years. Didnt give us a paper or anything, said I should get my GC in a few weeks. I'm hoping nothing was updated because of the holiday weekend and that we'll see something with our cases next week!

Only approved..nothing about the actual card at the moment.
