But it can be done, and a lot easier than you think. Reloaders have been doing it for decades. It's a cheap way to make target ammunition for high volume target shooting. i'm not questioning the ability to make one's own bullets or gun for that matter. i'm just saying, building from scratch is not the preferred method of shipping guns in and out and around the country. and while buying guns at gander mountain and walmart or wherever and selling them illegally is certainly an issue, these purchases don't comprise the majority of illegal guns. i'm scratching my head at why lib wants this guy to do 50 years. what good would 50 years do anyone? societal benefit comes from preventing these sorts of crimes from happening in the first place, not draconian sentencing after the fact. i also don't really know how one justifies jailing a gun runner but scoffing when parents of slain children sue a gun or bullet manufacturer. the judge in this article stated that people kill people, guns don't - and lib is taking the opposite stance, that this man should be tried considering any potential murders or maiming another person might have hypothetically inflicted using one of these guns. just, doesn't make sense to me to be for strict sentencing in one case and champion personal responsibility and the absolute of the 2nd amendment in all others.

Last year, 88 percent of the guns recovered in Illinois were seized in Chicago. More than half of them came from out of state.

Last week, in his hometown of Chicago, President Barack Obama appealed to a conference of law enforcement officials to help him push for stricter federal gun laws. Anticipating what his critics might say, Obama addressed an apparent paradox: Chicago has restrictive gun regulations, yet continues to record thousands of shootings per year. To turn that into a case against gun reform, he continued, is to misunderstand how the flow of illegal guns works. The problem with that argument, as the Chicago Police Department will tell you, is that 60 percent of guns recovered in crimes come from out of state, Obama said. Youve just got to hop across the border.

Data from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) backs up the presidents point. The agency cannot trace every gun taken in by law enforcement. But between 2010 and 2014, it was able to source between 40 and 60 percent of the firearms recovered in Illinois, the vast majority of which were crime guns. Statewide, most of those weapons came from elsewhere in Illinois, a pattern seen in other states. But thousands found their way into Illinois and often, Chicago from parts of the country with weaker gun laws.

While the Windy City outlaws gun stores, straw purchasers can pick up firearms in neighboring suburbs that have track records of failing to police the gun sellers within their borders. Across the state line in Indiana, gun laws are loose enough to earn the state 17th place on Guns and Ammos list of the best states for gun owners (Illinois ranks 43rd).

Not coincidentally, as the visualization above shows, in 2010, 2011, and 2014, the annual count of Illinois crime guns originating in Indiana topped 1,o00 guns per year. (In 2012 and 2013, there was a big dip in Illinois crime guns coming from Indiana, though the ATF isnt sure why.) Mississippi was next in line, trafficking about a third as many guns into the state. At least four others exported more than 500 guns to Illinois during 201014. Five more states sent more than 400 each.

Across the country, guns make their way across state lines, and into crime scenes, in similar fashion. In Chicago, its why police can seize an illegal gun every 75 minutes but fail to stop the tide. And nationally, its why the chief of the ATFs violent crime and intelligence division has compared trafficked guns to cockroaches in an apartment complex. If you aggressively treat the problem in one place, while leaving it unchecked elsewhere, the infestations will continue.

Because as always, it gets all twisted around and spin put on it. You get people who know little about guns and reloading telling us how easy it is to buy guns and that reloading isn't a viable way to bypass the plans put into place (even after LIB posted a link showing it doesn't work).

Talking about someone who has straw-bought guns 55 KNOWN times (how many others we don't know about?) to help people who can't legally buy guns own them as if they are doing nothing wrong and don't deserve to be punished.

On Monday, Hillary Clinton spoke at the Rainbow PUSH Coalition‘s annual convention in Chicago, Illinois. The organization, founded by Reverend Jesse Jackson, invited Clinton to speak about a number of topics including gun violence. Clinton’s primary focus was gun violence and introducing legislation to require background checks for the purchase of a firearm. You want to deter these folks from selling illegal handguns . Make them do the time ... And a lot of it. and get them off the street. Not make it harder for law abiding folks to make a purchase . Sue that gun mfg ..... We don't ever hear liberals talking about suing ford when a thug steals a car ... or an illegal drives without a license and killing...a family ..
