Walmart is being subsidized by taxpayers (and no I'm not talking about employees on benefits)

“It’s ridiculous—we are talking about the biggest retailer in the world. I may have half my squad there for hours”

https://www.bloomberg.com/features/2016-walmart-crime/

The company has one worker for every 524 square feet of retail space, a 19 percent increase in space per employee from a decade ago.

In terms of profit, all this has worked: Sales per employee in the U.S. have grown 23 percent in the past decade, to $236,804. For criminals, however, the cutbacks were like sending out a message that no one at Walmart cared, no one was watching, and no one was likely to catch you.

Walmart has always pushed any cost it could off to the taxpayer. #thehighcostofalwayslowprices

It’s not unusual for the department to send a van to transport all the criminals Ross arrests at this Walmart. The call log on the store stretches 126 pages, documenting more than 5,000 trips over the past five years. Last year police were called to the store and three other Tulsa Walmarts just under 2,000 times. By comparison, they were called to the city’s four Target stores about 300 times. Most of the calls to the northeast Supercenter were for shoplifting, but there’s no shortage of more serious crimes, including five armed robberies so far this year, a murder suspect who killed himself with a gunshot to the head in the parking lot last year, and, in 2014, a group of men who got into a parking lot shootout that killed one and seriously injured two others...

It seems to be a very efficient use of the officers time . Be right there where the crime is .If an officer was not on duty perhaps you would have two to five fold increase in crime .???.. They must be putting them in the high crime areas .. I have never seen a officer on duty at a walmart near me .. There are stores that I know of that closed down because of the shoplifting pressure..

From Trumps speech in Milwaukee

There is no compassion in tolerating lawless conduct. Crime and violence is an attack on the poor, and will never be accepted in a Trump Administration.

The narrative that has been pushed aggressively for years now by our current Administration, and pushed by my opponent Hillary Clinton, is a false one. The problem in our poorest communities is not that there are too many police, the problem is that there are not enough police.

More law enforcement, more community engagement, more effective policing is what our country needs.

walmart should be paying for extra private security, you're totally missing the point.

Four Walmart employees watch the monitors ... They have that security.. ..Crime is so bad that an officer is needed on site.... Or does walmart put the thugs in the walmart jail ?.. You need someone to do the arrest along with paperwork .

OR maybe Target needs to tighten theirs. Seems like Walmart is catching them. You do know a loss prevention/slash private security guard can't arrest people.

It's about presence not about someone cowering behind a monitor. If security was present, then maybe crime would be deterred that way. It's how other large retailers such as Target or Costco do it. You see the security personnel when you walk into the store and you see the security personnel when strolling through the store. They're present. And the retailer pays for them. Coincidentally, these stores do not have to rely as heavily on taxpayer funded police. But good to know that Walmart has someone look at a monitor.

Not really . Security blends in with the customers .. You never see them . Folks running the monitors are in contact with their security walking the store.

Of course. I use to be a Walmart supplier. They have elaborate security. Thats why they catch so many people.

So who should Walmart call . I guess they don't have the right to call the po lease.

no, the exactly wasn't for you. walmart needs to step up security measures that prevent the crime of shoplifting from occurring in the first place.
