File sent to Security clearance team, Any idea?

Hi Everyone,

Well, last update we know that my husband's file was sent to security clearance team last week, Does anyone know why is that and how long it will take. we still waiting for his EAD and it has been over 120 days!

May have been a name hit, you are in background/security checks and no one can tell you how long it will take.
We filed AOS 14 months ago and are also still in background checks.

My husband did not get his EAD yet, are they going to do the background check before issuing his EAD, what if that take a year, he won't be able to work or do anything? i am confused

My husband received his EAD/AP a year about a year ago. I do not know if security/ background checks will pause

EAD processing, RFE's will but not sure about the checks. My wild guess is no.

Security checks can happen at any stage, before and after EAD, even after an interview.

Since July 1st our case updated to response of evidence received, nothing after, we contacted the congress woman office and they told me the file was sent to security clearance last Monday. I do not know what will happen with his EAD, its hard, he can not do anything,he can not work or get driver's license. He's getting depression feels like helpless. , i am praying to god this won't take long.

Have him volunteer, there are many options to keep busy, he may be able to volunteer with a possibility to get hired when he is authorized

to work. It is a good way to get your foot in the door.
Sitting at home and pouting about it will only make it worse.
It sucks but since there is nothing to speed it up it is useless to be depressed about it.

He just has to learn to deal with it as it comes, main thing is you are together now.

Nothing comes easy in this process.

One thing I would try is inquire through a senator/congressman IF the EAD/AP is paused during security checks or not.
It takes 75-100 days to get the EAD/AP if they continue processing.
You can try to call the 'misinformation line' and ask for a tier2 IO to give you an answer, not the parrots that answer the phones.

It has been 2 year that our case is still pending for the security check and recently i got my third work permit. There is no time frame when your case goes into security checck.

oh wow, i guess every case is different, we were concerned about his work permit. i hope that check wont delay his EAD for long.

Is your spouse still waiting?. I am going through the same thing.
