a friend and recent immigrant from saint lucia suggested sending everything to speed up the process. to ensure that any missing docs and follow up will process. will i need to resubmit? if so, i have already prepared a duplicate packet.

oh and what is NVC? smile.

it will take about a year for all the processing and the interview to be scheduled

there is no way to speed it up by submitting the I 864 as at the NVC stage you first get a bill for it and have to fill it out online

there are 2 fees to pay when the packet goes to NVC (new case number is also assigned with embassy call letters)

so, now it is time to pray and wait and wait and pray

Best to you

You will have to submit the I-864 at the NVC stage.

Its a good thing that you made copies but, the original I-864 has to be submitted to NVC.

Also keep an eye on the USCIS website to make sure the I-864 version is still valid when its time to be submitted to NVC.

Right now you just need to wait for an approval of your petition and hope you don't get a RFE (Request for Evidence.)

From what I have seen Nebraska is about a 4 months wait for approval. I have seen persons waiting since February and some I have seen that got approval within 2 months. Everyone's case is different.

great information guys. i have a lot to read. i have copies and originals of everything so i will anxiously await a case number so i can begin to submit to NVC.

do you have any idea what original documents they might request? im thinking the marriage and birth certificates. the other docs are letters and bank statements as well as certified IRS copies.

The only original that you send to NVC is the I-864. Everything else is photocopies.Passport photos are not required, that guide need to be updated.

Right now you need to anxiously wait for an approval of your petition first. Then after approval you will anxiously wait for petiton to be sent to NVC and then anxiously wait for the case and invoice number. Then anxiously wait for Case complete. Then anxiously wait for interview to be scheduled. You will be doing alot of anxiously waiting with this Journey.

okay. so i will be notified when my petition is approved or will i need to contact someone? i keep reading blogs that suggest contacting each department as they dont always send updates in a timely manner so it is a good idea to contact them to be sure things are moving along.

seems case and invoice numbers are THE important numbers.

this advice is priceless. thank you.

On the USCIS website just create a profile and add your receipt number along with your phone number and or email address. You will be notified with any updates with your petition. Contacting them now doesn't help with anything. You contact them only if your petition is pending for more than 6 months or you if you need to update something with your petition.

Yeah they are important numbers at the NVC stage.
