I'm really surprised a single guy could kill 50+ adults in such a small area while having to reload, normally something happens to stop it.

In addition to those killed inside the club, at least 53 people were taken to area hospitals. Dozens of partygoers remained hostages in the club for several hours after the initial shooting, prompting SWAT teams to rush inside. Shortly after 6 a.m. local time, Orlando police tweeted that the gunman had been killed.

Turned on the tv this morning. Pretty horrific situation. One of the first questions one of the pundits asked someone was " Is this terrorist attack, a hate crime or just violence?" I am so sick of this hate crime bs. Hell he killed 50 people and they are wondering if he did this out of hate. Give me a break. Yea it was out of love. Like killing 50 people is so much worse if it is labeled as a hate crime and it would be so much less of a crime if it was just random violence.

Also I went over to Reddit. They are deleting and locking all threads about this shooting in all subs except for the Trump one. Unbelievable.

Mateen, Terrorist Who Attacked Orlando Gay Club, Had Been Investigated by FBI

Mateen was a known quantity to federal law enforcement before he killed 53 people in the worst mass shooting in U.S. history.

The senior law enforcement source reports that Mateen became a person of interest in 2013 and again in 2014. The Federal Bureau of Investigation at one point opened an investigation into Mateen but subsequently closed the case when it produced nothing that appeared to warrant further investigation.

People were murdered today.

They weren't just murdered because they were American.

They weren't just murdered because they were human.

They were murdered because they were gay.

They were murdered because they were hated.

This act was caused by an American citizen.

They were Muslim. I don't really give a damn what religion they were from.

If they are a lone wolf operating within a cell or connected to a large organization then they are an international terrorist.

If they are a lone wolf, that was peeved because of some men kissing, (boo hoo for you) then it is a domestic terrorist. And I think despite whatever threats he made, you're going to find this is probably the case. As I've said before ISIS is looking for crazy disaffected persons that are easy pickings to a cause. Become what everyone says you are anyway.

This comes from the same root as the Nazi punk kid that walked into a church and murdered people because they were black. It comes from hatred. A deep seated us vs them philosophy, that looks to corrupt those who feel mistreated, the mentally ill, and those with pure hatred inside of them. The rhetoric inside the US about gays has not helped over the current weeks. A quick google search will reveal mentally religious nutjobs yelling at people in stores, standing outside of schools screaming at children... the Westboro Baptist church, talking about wanting to kill gay people while threateningly holding a gun to the camera on youtube posts and blogs, and even those now you'll find people NOT of Islam but of other religions taking this act with glee. They will say they deserved to die because God hates them, because they are sinning abominations not worth the lives they have. I greatly feared such an attack on gays were coming, the rhetoric has been increasing, which could easily give inspiration to the lone wolf of the day.

I was grieved this morning when I saw what had happened... some news stations just call this an attack on a club... (clubs are soft targets obviously that's why it was picked)... but these people were specifically chosen to die for being gay. Scream about Islam all you want, but don't ever lose sight of that. They were chosen to die because of love... because of whom they love. It is hatred that is the root of all evil on this earth. It isn't any set of particular religions, but it is men's hatred twisting religion to fit into their hateful outlook on the world. A thinly veiled hatred has existed towards gays in every religion. The major religions share the same relative philosophy on it )all comes from the same traditional root). Christians already went through their burn and kill gays phase but still continue to maintain attitudes towards them (however peaceful or not) that isn't very ''Christian like'. Islamist cultists are following that example to a ramped up degree.

Instead of arguing in this thread, or making comments, insults, or whatever.. I'd beg you for just a minute.. to think about any gay person that you know, and keep them in your thoughts. Maybe hug them, and ask them if they are okay. Tell them you love them. Tell them they have a right to love whom they choose.

I know someone in the area, and we fell out of touch many years ago. He was hounded all his life for being gay, shunned by his family and friends, beaten up a lot, tried to kill himself sometimes because he felt there was no place for him in the world because of his feelings. I'm thinking about him right now.. and I hope he is okay.
