Tourist visa request denied- how long to wait before reapplying?

My fiance tried to get a B-2 visa twice, and was turned down both times, so I came to visit him instead (sounds like what you are doing!). He has a very good job, he owns an apartment (not rents, but owns), and he's traveled abroad.... It just makes no sense. He had no invitation. It seems like it's generally a bad idea to say that you know people in the U.S., although unfortunately, your boyfriend already has on record that he knows someone and has a close connection to them. I've read that you should wait at least 6 months and show something has substantially changed. Good luck to you both!

As others have indicated, part of the issue is his relationship with you -- nothing personal, of course. It's just that you are a US citizen, you have expressed a close relationship and wanting him to meet your family and have demonstrated -- by living and working for two years in Nicaragua on a tourist visa -- that you are not concerned about violating a country's immigration laws. He would most likely make more $$ in the US to send to his daughter, so that's not a strong tie. Assuming he is part of the reason you are staying/working there, if he stays in the US, you have far less of a reason to leave the US -- there is no real repercussion to you if you abandon your lease or job there (which you might lose at some point, anyway, if Nicaraguan immigration denies your continued entry as a tourist). Just saying all this to show how the visa officer might look at it.
