We met in a USA town, he was living there 8 years, on an employer sponsored visa renewed every 2-3 years. So I have trips where I went to Canada with him to meet family and friends. One flight was to Vermont and we drove over border so no stamp. What do I do? The list of documents on this rfe is good for people in different countries, my situation is different. And the generic list is all stuff I have already sent I with that f129. He quit USA job after 8 years went on a trip then couldn't get back into USA! Border citing that he couldn't prove ties to Canada.

In original application I gave everything they asked for, plus photos with dates preprinted on them and my passport stamp to Canada first visit. But we went together because he was living in same town I was at the time. Now he isn't.

I don't know what to do to prove we dated for 3+ years. But it's true, all 100% truth. Meanwhile if I had a hospital or other emergency he can't even get to me. No criminal histories, etc. I triple checked that f129 I really don't get why this happened and mow not sure how to include what they want or what more I can do to prove we are in love engaged and getting married. I've contacted airlines to get proof of my flights, tried to get my border crossing history into Canada and got to a dead end due to being right before June 2013. There aren't more trips because he lived in my town in USA on work visa.

Am I theory one whose had a story like this one? What do I do to prove our local dating relationship when he lived here?

Suggestions?

Thank you for anything you can add, I'm stressed out about this.

He needs to show his US work visa and prove he was in the US. You seem to be focusing on you going to Canada. Try the other way round. Good luck.

The letter says

written statement that we met, this all has to be preceding the two years before the petition was filed

copies of airline tickets and stubs (don't have these)

copies of passport pages with stamps (have one the other was a land crossing)

military orders (n/a)

evidence of meeting in last 2 years (already sent, will resend more I suppose)

photos of you together is secondary evidence (again I already did this but will do it again)

IT doesn't seem very convincing evidence. Other than the work visa copies do I just write out a narrative?

No, you need real evidence. Does he have an old paystub or US id? Old lease proving he lived in the US? Stamps in his passport showing his crossing? When did he move away from the US?

April 2016 when I went to Canada.

And before that? You have to send proof of a time before Feb 14 because that is when you sent the petition.

Do you have credit card statements showing you two were together? We used that as evidence of us going to restaurants, hotels, etc. You could organize it to show his charges and your charges occurring in the same city at the same time.

How much info did you give them in the first letter about how you met? Some here says you only need to write a few sentences but me and my husband pretty much wrote a novel. We met when I was an Au Pair so we explained that we met in the US and I moved in with him after my 2nd Au Pair year was over and I switched to a student visa. I sent in proof of the visas and acceptance letter from the school.

Write more about how you guys met and add more evidence: the work visa and any more you can think of.

Apart from April 2016 which is after you sent in the petition, when was the last time you guys met?

I'm not sure how that will help much in this situation. According to the OP the RFE was concerned with their meeting in the last 2 years, not the first time they ever met.

USCIS doesn't really need a novel about how you met the first time. They are much more concerned that you and your fiance have been together face to face in the last 2 years.

And yet people get RFE's for not giving enough information...

On the list OP gave us from the RFE was the statement about how they met. That's why I asked how much she wrote and I gave an example of what I wrote.

I know that you don't need to write a novel but you need to write enough to get all necessary information.

Some get RFE from just saying "met on the internet". They don't specify where/how. OP met in the US and I was trying to make sure they properly explained and gave evidence of that.

This is helpful, thank you.

So essentially I need to show proof of in person, same town relationship from February 2013 through Feb 2015 (even though we began dating September 2012-- I don't include this? because I did include on the statement on I129f) June 2015 through November 2015 was by skype and daily emails. His visit here December 2015, we traveled together for my visit there December 2015 and April 2016.

Your suggestions really help because there isn't much on this type of situation in the guides.

We both realize now that what he should have done during the work visa and that usa employement for 8 years was to do the process of citizenship.

I hope this won't be a problem in the k1 visa though no rules broken, just not the best way to have done it. Maria&Seve it is a similar situation with the working abroad Au Pair and having met there that way.

I doubt he was eligible for citizenship - he didn't even have a Green Card, so nothing lost there.

You need to prove that you met in person between Feb 14 2013 and Feb 2015. You do not need to prove that you went to Canada. You need to prove that you met in person - could be in the US, could be on the moon. So you look at what evidence you have that proves that. His paperwork from the US during that time should suffice - stamps on his visa, dates on his visa, his bank account/bank statements showing activity in the US, lease in the US, etc, as I said.

You never put the exact text of the RFE here. If you want specific answers, put the text here. For the whole petition, you need to explain how you met and provide proof that you have seen each other in person between Feb 2013 and Feb 2015. We can't be sure which the RFE is asking for, though the most common mistake is the proof of meeting in person in the last 2 years.

There seems to be a lot of confusion about the requirements for K-1, requirements for citizenship, etc, so it might be in your best interest to study a bit more to make sure you understand it so the process is easier. good luck.

From the post that was made, it looks like the RFE clearly mentioned the 2 year thing. It's hard to say without the exact wording from the RFE, though.

My statement was the following: "We met on the internet on xx/xx/2014 and then in person on xx/xx/2014." No RFE. Fit right in the lines provided on the I-129F.
