I am a green card holder. Unfortunately our son aged out of our green card application so once I received my green card I filed an I130 for him. The priority date is July 22nd 2014. It is in the Vermont Service Center. It has still not been approved after 18 months. In all this time, the Vermont Service Center states they are dealing with applications dated September 3rd 2012. This date never changes. Is anything at all happening at the Vermont Service Center?

I am going to call my congressman again today. For what good that will do. They haven't helped me so far. It's because of all these DACA applications I think - illegal people being made legal. Makes me so mad. It goes against you if you stay within the law.

Is your son in the F2B category? Even if it's taking a long time for his petition to be approved, you'll still need to wait about 4 years to begin processing the visa and 5 years for a visa to become available.

https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/law-and-policy/bulletin/2016/visa-bulletin-for-february-2016.html

Also, the VSC is probably the most backed up service center since its the only one servicing the eastern region. The processing times haven't been updated since Nov 30 and the date Sep 2012 date is listed is the date of the last petition adjudicated -- not necessarily the date they're currently working on.

VSC is slow like a snail. However, even if you get the approval this month, you son has to wait another 5 years to get the interview date based on the current visa bulletin, but anyway, it's always nice to get the approval notice sooner. Good luck.

Yes, unfortunately I am aware of that but yes, it does still make you feel better knowing it's approved and the time it is taking is ridiculous. We moved here because the country needed my husband to get a brand new plant off the ground. There wasn't one person in the country that could do his job. Unfortunately, even though we said yes to a permanent relocation, the company didn't tell us that they couldn't guarantee that for our son. So angry that we have brought so much to this country and we are in this situation. Each case should be taken on an individual situation.

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
