Hello....

Has anyone ever heard of Consuls requiring more than 125% above the poverty line (ie, 150% or 200%) from petitioners sponsoring their AGED/Geriatric/Old parents? IR5.

I don't know if I should be worried.

My 2003-2005 annual income was fine/or really way above the poverty line. I submitted these 2003-2005 transcripts to NVC along with the I864 last Dec. 28, 2006.

But,,,.,,in the year of 2006,,,,,I RARELY worked. I worked as a PRN (as needed nurse) while doing full time in grad school. That's because I had clinical rotations everyday.

My income sharply declined in 2006. (same till now------coz I'm doing my thesis)

In my tax return: My gross is $800 just above the 125% of poverty line. You can say, I'm almost at the borderline. But yeah,,,,,it looks like I'll pass....wait........"only looks like"............

My W-2 (job salary ) is only at the 105% of the poverty line.

My additional income (that made my gross income just slightly above the 125% poverty line) came from school stipends/scholarship/traineeship funds.

In my situation: would I have a problem as a Sponsor?,,,,considering the applicants are Elderly people.....but healthy. Is this a red flag for consuls?

Do you think I should get a co-sponsor?

My parents' Interview is this April. I hope they don't ask for the 2006 Transcripts. And be satisfied with the 2003-2005. I'll keep them in handy just in case. But I'll tell my parents not to show the 2006 TRanscripts unless the consuls ask for it. Deadline for filing is April 15 anyway.

Help.....what advice can you give me..... :help:

My mind is racing.....

BTW, I am not considering the inclusion of any asset.

If you all think, I need more financial evidence,,,,,,I would use a co-sponsor. (just my personal preference).

Let me know what you think about my financial situation.

Thank you. - Francel

Francel,

The INA is quite specific about the sponsorship requirements for an immigrant visa. Look at an I-864 and at 9 FAM 40.41 (Public Charge) Notes.
