Had my interview on July 21st, 2015. Passed with flying colours and was told that I would get my passport back in 2 1/2 weeks. That didnt happen.

After being told countless times that I was in AP, today I emailed the consulate asking for my passort back. I recieved an email from them this afternoon asking if I was available for a second interview on the 12th - next tuesday. I confirmed I was free and emailed them back.

I searched the forum but couldnt find any info on second CR1 interviews.

Anyone can help?

Well what country ARE you from? Perhaps extra precaution due to not being an actual Canadian and coming from a country that is considered higher risk? Sorry this is a bit harsh but Canadians are not usually in this scenario. I can't think of any Canadian since I've been around these boards having a second interview.

Maybe they just forgot something and they can exactly say they messed up so they just make you feel awful and stressed out by dragging you back in??

I feel frustrated for you!

I am Canadian. I don't think the fact I wasnt born in canada should affect this but I have wondered the same question as you.

I was born in Guyana. It has a pretty good relationship with the US and Canada. I am not from a country that has any issue with the USA.

If you are going for a second interview it means they have additional questions for you. It could be minor insignificant things or it could be something significant. There is no way for anyone on here to know.

You say your first interview went well. Thats good. You would know if it didnt lol. They also kept your passport (which is a sign it went well). You were then placed into AP. So potentially they discovered something in AP that they want to question you about. It happens. Is there anything- anything at all that you can think of of what might have shown up? Have you traveled to areas that are considered t-countries (terrorism)? Do you work in a special field? They give extra attention to people who are involved in or trained in certain things that can impact National Security like bio-engineering, aviation, robotics etc. It can also be a problem with the name check. I recall one case where the person was asked have you lived at X address (somewhere they never heard of) or know Mr so and so- something that came up on the background check. They answered no and immigration was satisfied.

If it has nothing to do with AP, it can be the CO needs to follow up with either something they overlooked at the first interview or forgot to ask something. This happens as well. Sometimes a supervisor will review the COs decision. If they did they might have caught something and requested the CO remedy it. It can be anything from asking for more evidence of the relationship to requesting a new 864. Speaking of which how was your 864? On the border of income or exceeding it? Did you ever have a past petition with USCIS? Any loose ends?

To be safe- bring everything to the interview again, plus new stuff that you may have. This way you wont have to get another 221g to submit it later. Review your packet if you have a copy and ensure all your info is correct. Pay attention to past addresses you listed. Make sure any divorce certificates/birth certificates etc are all certified and if applicable in the correct 'long form'.

I wish you luck and encourage you to post back afterwards what happens!

Thank you for that detailed response! I recieved a confirmation email a few hours ago and the only thing they told me bring was a photo id.

I will still bring everything else though.

Ive never been to a terrorism country so im sure thats not it. This is the first time I've applied to move to US, also.

Im thinking its something technical but I wont know until Tuesday. I've booked my bus and hotel...I just hope that time doesnt drag until then.

there was a report in the last 2 days

covering your exact scenario - another human seemingly approved then put in AP and then called in for a 2nd interview by a DHS Immigration Fraud Officer. The topic is floating around - you should should be able to find it when using a PC here at VJ.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Hmm I didnt see that thread... anyone have a link?

I also wanted to add- hows your medical? They are valid for 6 months I believe. It seems that if you had the first interview in July it may be close to expiring or already did... If thats the issue then that stinks as you will have to get a new one.

It expired on Dev 29th. I'm hoping I dont need a new one but we will see on Tuesday. This interview might not need to look at the medical. My police checks are good until February and March.
