New F1 Visa after OPT as self employed

Does anyone had problems obtaining another F1 Visa after they completed their degree and did an OPT as self employed (no income was gained during self employment as it was an artistic job. I worked from home). Should I expect problems getting a new F1 visa becasue I did not gained income during my self employment?

Yes, you might expect a problem, since OPT is not for self-employment, per se. Did you start a business? If so, you should be able to present your business plan, business licenses, profit and loss statements, etc. I don't believe other kinds of self-employment (e.g., painting in your artist studio; writing a novel in your home office, etc.). Another question is why another F1...have you completed your studies and your OPT? If this is to continue your self-employed OPT, I think it is highly unlikely you will be approved. If it's for a new F1 to start a new program of study, best be prepared to answer questions about your non-immigrant intentions.

you might want to get some input from a face to face meeting with your school's DSO.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.
