Adjustment of status, marriage, SSN and K1 Visa

My fiancee entered the country last Sunday (Jan 27) and we got married on Wednesday Jan 30. Because the plan was to get married before the end of the year. we didn't go and try and get a SSN number before the wedding. After the wedding we went and the clerk at the window said we would have to apply for adjustment of status before they could issue a SSN. Have I made a huge mistake? What's the quickest way for my Fiancee to get an SSN?

Tony

We had good luck following the K1 Flowchart: http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1flow. A lot of folks also successfully follow this pinned thread in the SSN Forum: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/513513-recommended-update-information-for-ssn-application/

Good luck on your immigration journey .
