Congrats to you, Doug! Me Too!

Thanks to your post, I called DC immediately. Normally, I call only on Mondays between 2pm and 4pm... but I guess I got that confused with the times to call the embassy?

Anyway, our interview is Tuesday, April 10, 2007 @ 7:00 AM.

We will make arrangements to fly back to the USA from Bogotá probably on Thursday, April 12th (i.e. the day of your interview).

Let's make sure we post our interview prep stuff in the CR-1 Colombia Club thread, both for our benefit and those coming behind us.

Doug and Looking4Wife: I forgot to convey some information. My wife in Barranquilla got her package about 9 or 10 days after the embassy sent it. The DC number should have the day it was mailed. Ours was already mailed by the time they had the interview date information. I know that Thieving69's wife received her package in Barranquilla 8 days after it was sent; so that gives you some idea for Barranquilla. Doug, I assume your wife may receive hers a little sooner. The only thing I can think of at the moment that needs a lot of advance notice in Barranquilla is the DAS "Certificado de Migratorio." It took my wife a little over 3 weeks to receive it. I know that you can get it Bogota in approximately 3 days. Hope this helps.

I am so happy that you can enjoymy beer, thanks Mark. lol They mailed the packets to me and Ceci on the th of March so am figuring she should get it maybe Monday since she is in Bogota. As to the other I had her go get hers as soon as Brad posted about it so I think we are set. She gets her last booster of the vaccinations the end of the month. I am glad we did it all there as it is so much cheaper than here. Thieving, definitely keep us posted. I will be arriving in Bogota on the 11th and we(hopefully) are returning together on Sat. 14 or Sunday the 15th. I want to come back on Sat, it is cheaper but almost full plane and can't get to the phone. I have a credit I want to use so need to use the phone reservations and physically go to the airport tonight to pay for it. Sucks but saves me $300.

One suggestion that has floated around the board in the past. Not sure if it will help, but it can't hurt.

Have your husband write a letter explaining why he cannot attend the interview and have it notarized. He can scan it and e-mail it....or fax it.

Good luck,

Mike

Good suggestion, but I would suggst the letter come from the employer (boss) on employer letterhead. May hold more weight. Not that your letter does not hold weight.

Irene:

You mentioned "many many pics of our wedding". I think it may be important to have non-wedding pics also, presuming that he came down more times than just for the wedding. Many people have posted on VJ saying that the embassy was very interested in their photos.

I'm taking photos from 4 trips (approx 100 pics). I selected only photos that included either both of us, or me and her family.

Sounds like you have a lot of other supporting evidence, so that's great too.

Good luck!

Darn it guys... Aguila is nice but Club Colombia is the way to go...

Congrats to you both, and Irene as well. Hopefully things will sail smoothly for y'all. I COULD have been in the same boat as you April interviewees but I decided to postpone due to work. I feel the absolute need to go and to this point my Mària hasn't convinced me to stay here in Chicago so the compromise will be to work an extra month in case I have no option but to resign (there are commissions to be made in May!). Hopefully that won't be so- even though she is feeling a heck of a lot more confident now than before Packet 3 ever arrived in Bucaramanga.

Now as for the cerveza. Well, if you were in Chicago you could hypothetically have one of mine in the fridge... or... maybe not!

Good luck!

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.
