I included Jenny's daughter Sophia on my petition. Jenny got a visa, but Sophia got no paperwork. What do children need to get into the United States with their mother?

kirk and Jenny,

They need a visa. Did Sophia apply for a visa?

If not, get going.

Did you submit the K2 with the K1 for her child? If not, that needs to be done as fast as possible. maybe you can ask for an expedite for her child. Just remember there are lots of requirements for her child, depending on whether she ever married the father or not, whether the father's name is on the BC...etc. I'd go to the Manila Embassy Interview thread and ask for assisstnace since lots of members there processed their K2s at the same time.

Good luck, Ken & Maria

OK I must be confused. I do not see anywhere in the guides that refers to a K-1 or K-2 application being filed.

Obviously the I-129F is filed to begin the process, but when is a K-1 or K-2 application actually filed? Is this the DS-156K?

Kurios,

As a practical matter, at most consulates the case begins when the visa applicant has sent both DS-230-I and the signed statement of readiness for interview to the consulate.

The assemblage of all forms and required documentation constitutes the complete application.
