For Affidavit of Support, you need to make 100% of the poverty guidelines which is $15,930 ao youd be fine with that, but once your married and file the adjustment of status you need to have 125% unless in the military which would be $19,913.

What amount is shown on line 22 of your 2014 form 1040? That is the income amount evaluated. Assets such as savings would be valued at a 3:1 (asset:income) ratio.

Are you going to have your 2015 taxes done to show that you made that much Total Income(line 22 of 1040) before the interview? They use the Total Income amount from the most recent return for self-employed.

If self-employed, you don't need to re-list your own address. Leave it blank or put 'Same as above' or "Same as residence address'.

You should also be aware that while 100% over the poverty level is the minimum qualification for a K-1, most embassies want to see 125% to guarantee approval without a co-sponser.

I'm self employed and just added up how much I made last year and it came out to 17,350. I have no other dependents, and am only applying for my fiance. I have roughly 5000 in savings.

Did I make enough or should I get a co-sponsor?

Thanks

Chances are that your amount of $17,350 you added up as self employed income does not take into consideration that you need line 22 on your tax return, the amount AFTER you deducted your business expenses so the $17,350 may dwindle down quite a bit more.

For AOS it gets stricter with proving self employment income, such as proving 'projected' income for the year with a business income ledger etc.

Hello, okay I was looking at my 1040 and after I called my my CPA to double check. Line 22 is my gross income. It is not after deductions. She said that that would be line 37. So which one do they use? Line 22 or line 37 / gross income or income after deductions?

Thanks to everyone, I really appreciate it

As was stated, it is line 22 of a 1040 form that is used. That would be Total Income. It is gross income, but for self-employed, it is also after business deductions come out from schedule C. Some people have even taken less deductions so that their Total Income comes out high enough to meet the income requirement.

This of course is what is used for the I-864, as the I-134 has no detailed instructions and requirements like the I-864 does. You will need to provide the I-864 soon after the I-134 once married and filing for AOS, so might as well fill out the I-134 in the same manner to be accepted by the CO for the visa approval.
