Not sure if anybody would actually know this but hey, who knows? I was never told where my port of entry is supposed to be.

I am flying from Cardiff in Wales tomorrow morning, then stopping and changing flights in Dublin in Ireland, then flying from there to Chicago, then from Chicago to Columbus, Ohio. I'm assuming my port of entry would be Chicago as it is the first American airport I'll be landing in and surely they would want my information as soon as I get into America? But perhaps it could be in Ohio instead as that is the state I'll be residing in?

Any help would be really wonderful. Thanks!

Yes, your POE will be Chicago. I had my POE in Chicago just under a month ago before flying on to Cleveland, OH, and it was super smooth. Took be probably 5-10 minutes and I was not taken into another room, which I've read some other people have been. Good luck and congrats!

Yes, Dublin. We used pre-clearance in Winnipeg and for whatever reason we got a US visa stamp in our passports even though we are USC. They will get all the info in Dublin and proceed as if you were in the US . You come into the US like a domestic flight. Make sure you have enough time in Dublin to accommodate.

Swing and a miss.

Your PoE will actually be Dublin, because there is a CBP preclearance facility there.

To be more specific: Dublin Ireland, as there is a city named Dublin in Ohio, the final state of your journey. :)

Have a safe and prosperous trip!

Which airlines are you flying from Dublin? Not all of them use the Terminal 2 pre-clearance. Check to see if the airlines you are using departs from Terminal 2. If it does your POE will be Dublin, Ireland because that is where you will go thru customs and immigration (hand over the big envelope). If it is not then your POE will the be first city you arrive at in the US...which would be Chicago because you would go thru customs and immigration there.

We have done this a lot because my stepson lives in Ireland with his mother.

Hope this helps.

Hey, everybody! Sorry it took so long to reply. I'm in America now and I've been settling in :)

Just to answer my own question for any others who are curious: it was indeed Dublin. Which actually makes sense to me now, because they'd obviously want to check all my visa information BEFORE I step foot in America. So no, it is not Chicago.

And just to clarify, I was of course talking about Dublin, Ireland, and not Dublin, Ohio. In case anyone may have gotten confused, haha.

Thank you to all the helpful answers, and hopefully this thread may help someone else in the same situation too!
