Hi All

Had my medical on thursday, so thought I would give reassurance to those still worrying, its a piece of cake

Medical was for 10.30 arrived at 10.10, could only sit in Starbucks for so long!

Went to reception, they took a copy of my Police Certificate, I had original and copy, took my passport, my 4 photos and my letter that I had an interview scheduled

Sat down, then called for a chest x-ray

Sat back down then went for a health check with Nurse, I had no record of my vaccinations, so they gave me a tetanus jab and a MMR jab

Sat down again, doctor (a lady) called me through, asked me if I needed a chaperone, and did the basics checks, blood pressure, height, weight, medical history, took some blood, looked in ears, down throat, did a very basic sight test

Stripped down to underpants for breathing and heartbeat, checked knees and ankles, checked downstairs department (for lumps)

Chatted about rugby (the doctor is from NZ), discussed my tattoos and how nice they were!

Said everything was fine although I could do with losing a bit of weight and blood pressure slightly high, but nothing to worry about

Sat down again, called back to reception where they returned all paperwork, paid the bill (£330 including 2 jabs!!!) said they will contact me if any problems with blood or x-ray

All in all about 75 mins total time

People seem to go into the different departments in various order, don't think there is a set routine

All the staff were very friendly, put me at ease, I hate injections! The whole process was totally professional and extremely well done, a big up to the staff

Anyone has any questions or nervous, I'm happy to help

And so today I had my interview, so the worrymongers amounst you can stop panicking!

Appointment at 8.30 got there at 7.45, already a queue

You present your interview letter and passport, then into security just like the airport

Into reception where they give you your waiting ticket number

Called to the interview window where I presented all the original copies of my docs, then sat again

Up to window again for interview, where I was asked 3 whole questions!

1. Where does your wife live now

2. What is her job

3. Have I ever lived outside the UK when over the age of 18

And then the wonderful words I am approving your Visa

I was expecting more questions that I wasn't sure I heard her first time lol

On the phone to my wife by 1030

The biggest problem was the hard chairs lol

Any questions please ask

How did you schedule your interview so soon after your medical?!

Congrats on your approval!!!

I believe the OP is a CR-1 category not K1.

(My medical was just as simple, but I had x-ray, saw doc and then the nurse for vaccination history)

OP - Congratulations on the visa.

TJM as Devonian says I was CR1/IR1 the process is different, we get our interview scheduled by NVC and then we book medical

Devonian, when is your interview? if you want any pointers ask away

I should've checked first! I must admit I did rather get my hopes up that the Embassy was overstaffed and therefore scheduling interviews that quickly!!

Even so, the medical process is broadly the same I believe with just a slight difference with the vaccinations not being required at that moment in time?

Congrats again and Devonian good luck with the closing stages of your process!

Thanks TJM, your correct you get your vaccinations over there if you need any

I think the Embassy is slow in scheduling, we called NVC beginning of September and they said all September appointments were allocated, so we assumed October at the earliest, then wham interview 21 Sept!

So keep positive, it will happen very soon

Hi all, I have a question on this which I've been struggling to find a definitive answer to - I'm currently waiting for my interview to be scheduled, but I haven't had my medical yet, and I'm reluctant to book it without knowing when the interview is - mainly because I'm unsure if there is a time limitation for the medical certificate?

Should I wing it and book a medical without knowing when the interview will be?

Any thoughts/experience most welcome.

A timeline would be helpful. http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/profile.php?id=218953

Your profile says adjustment of status, yet you posted in a London visa medical and interview thread. Clarify if you are interviewing for a greencard in the US or London for a visa. What visa?
