Whew - what have I done? Boy Scout stuff, Black Church Stuff, work projects, job-creation, weekly meetings for two years with the group of young ladies and men that i personally sponsored college scholarships for, mentoring them along the way. Black Businessmen mentoring.

Sure, I stopped all of that when my ex-wife moved into the USA, but I did do this stuff for about 30 years. 30. Does that negate your experiences as a black man in a black community ? Who cares? I asked you, apparently indirectly (prior) - what have you done to elevate a black man at the lowest rung to the next rung, and really, how's it been working out for them ?

I mentioned NAACP meetings, for Janelle, as she's never, ever mentioned that she's attended a local chapter meeting - which has me pushing to the next thing, of not getting involved with local solutions to local problems. It's ok to complain electronically but if'n one isn't actively fixing problems in the community, why bother?

And I'm not a liberal or a leftist - so there !

Trust me, I was more disappointed than you when I learned that Banal Barry not present a bill via Congress on his 2nd day of office, to handle the reparations of the black slaves' families. A Golden Opportunity, wasted.

The ones who've joined have gotten jobs and futures they wouldn't have had otherwise. They have kids who are going to get opportunities most people from our old neighborhood will never see. I'm mentoring a young man as we speak who calls weekly to seek advice about job placement. So yes, I do keep tabs.

Once I get my footing, I'll do the same here.

Congrats on helping others less fortunate than you. But to answer your question about elevating a black man? I am a black man whose elevated himself and others to a better life. Is that good enough for you?

I believe Janelle doesn't do the meetings because she was pressed for time. Working 3 jobs, going to night school getting her degree(she has a BA and currently on her Master's degree) all the while carrying child is a bit much. Not to mention the people she's a work mom to who have traveled the world over and are now doing good because of her advice.

There's no way this country will give black people reparations because as a whole they don't feel responsible for the horrors of slavery.

Compete for what? Can you show me where black people are applying for jobs that illegal immigrants are taking from them? Because I can show jobs being applied for that are being taken from them just because their name is Jamal or Shaniqua.

Such grant of legal status will likely disproportionately harm lower-skilled African-Americans by making it more difficult for them to obtain employment and depressing their wages when they do obtain employment. The increased employment difficulties will likely have negative consequences that extend far beyond economics…

The obvious question is whether there are sufficient jobs in the low-skilled labor market for both African-Americans and illegal immigrants. The answer is no…

Illegals aren't the ones with the hiring power. Who was holding women and black people back from obtaining jobs so affirmative action was created? I can give you a couple of guesses but you only need one. And I can tell you, it wasn't illegals.

No one is saying white people are the root of every problem for black people, you are. None the less, it would help if systematic and subtle racism was taken off of our plate.

We don't agree with the mass deportation of illegals because once this is accomplished, the focus will turn to how to get rid of black people.

Can you prove this? Because I know someone who worked 3 jobs, went to school, and had a child, but never collected a single thing from the government. And many more who work low end jobs just to ensure they don't collect unemployment.
