Guys, we just applied for SSN yesterday to change my last name on my current card and to get a new one for my son, the clerk said it should take abt 4 weeks to get it. I've heard some people on the forum experienced the same. Did it really take you that long???

Yes it can take that long for the paperwork to process, and for things to change in the various systems.

It can take even longer. I'm waiting six weeks now, still no ssc. Some people waited 8 weeks. I'm calling them every two days, but they say they are still waiting for dhs verification.
