The 58-year-old homeless man was found with his face soaked in urine, a broken nose and beaten chest and arms, the Boston Globe reported.

Police said two brothers from South Boston ambushed the 58-year-old as he slept outside of a Dorchester MBTA stop, and targeted him because he is Hispanic. One of the brothers said he was inspired in part by GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump.

The businessman and 2016 presidential hopeful actually responded to the newspaper's request for comment on the Wednesdays assault, claiming that his followers are "passionate."

It would be a shame I will say that people who are following me are very passionate. They love this country and they want this country to be great again. They are passionate.

Scott Leader, the 38-year-old suspect, told officials that assaulting the man was okay because he was both Hispanic and homeless.

I came to this thread thinking that the ties to the Donald might be tenuous at best. If quoted correctly it appears that the Donald deserved honorable mention and supported these two idiots and their lunatic actions. Pathetic!

I looked up the story in a couple of other places, that's how Trump is quoted. Nothing about the man being beaten, just Trump making it about him because his name was mentioned.

Although I am mildly curious as to whether your reaction to the story is defined less by what happened and more by who posted the article and the ethnic origin of the people involved.

I just posted it because I think it's odd to not show empathy with the victim of a crime, especially when it's done in your name...
