Elderly Tuskegee Airman has car and cash stolen while lost in St. Louis

ST. LOUIS (KTVI) – A 93-year-old Tuskegee Airman had his car stolen and was robbed in two separate incidents on Sunday night. The robbery happened Sunday at McPherson and Sarah in North St. Louis

Police say the victim got lost while driving to his daughter’s home Sunday at around 11:30am. The 93-year-old man pulled over to call his daughter. A man approached and entered the victim’s vehicle. The suspect took cash from the victim’s pant pocket. Then the suspect then got into another vehicle and left the scene. The victim lost sight of the older model black four door vehicle near the intersection of Walton and Page.

The victim drove to the intersection of Walton and Page. The elderly man got out of his car and asked two black males for help. They got into his car and drove away.

A random street robbery. Sad for the victim, but what is the significance?

Justification to carry ,This gentleman gets robbed twice in 10 minutes. by at least 3 different thugs. .. Life is good down in the hood. .Must have needed to buy a few college books or make their tuition payments .

I really don't understand your obsession with this kind of thing. A man is robbed - therefore everyone should carry a gun. There's just no logic there.

Working in London I know that there is a possibility that I could get mugged and (like everywhere) you read newspaper headlines about people having accidents or being victims of crime. Yet those headlines don't make me feel some desperate need to carry a weapon just in case. The headlines don't reflect my day to day experiences.

What's your thinking here? I'd really like to know. Do the news headlines reflect your day to day reality? Is going out of your house each morning really such a dangerous prospect?

It must have something to do with the color black.

I wasn't going to mention it but in another thread earlier someone accused LIB of hating black people. An hour or so later this thread goes up, - nothing remarkable about the story but he seems keen to let everyone know that it was black people that did it...

And the need to carry a gun at all times.

I can't imagine the burden of having to be packing everywhere you go. It kind of distorts the meaning of freedom I'd say.

Like I said, if your day to day reality involves certain threats of violence, it makes sense. If you're just conjuring it up in your own mind because of news headlines, that's a bit of a worry.

Some people need these kinds of instances of justify a rather antiquated and bigoted mindset.

I do think it's disturbing to post story after story about street crimes with black perpetrators and suggest it as the reason to carry a gun. As if a person must always be armed just in case they run into a black man.

It's those sorts of sentiments that underlie the Trayvon Martin shooting, for example. It's not that the shooter is always in the wrong, but that they instinctively treat black people differently they end up facilitating a violent confrontation.

No one has robbed you and you leave around no minorities. Why do you need to carry in the shower and in Walmart?
